Book Description
Otto D. Batty received most of his education from parochial schools. His first nine years were at Bethlehem Christian School in Kennewick, Washington, graduated from Concordia College-High School in Portland, Oregon in 1956. He received his A.A. degree from Columbia Basin College in Pasco, Washington in 1969, and B.A. degree in Education from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington in 1976. Otto majored in Social Studies with a strong emphasis in History. In 1961 while in Wyoming, Otto developed a great love for the Scripture. Over the years, he read 23 different translations and paraphrases of the Bible. He even read the Bible backwards from Revelation to Genesis. When asked why, he simply replied, "Just for fun." However, he wouldn't do it again or recommend it, saying "It was chronologically distracting." Otto has taught many Sunday School classes to both teenagers and adults. This work emerged out of those life experiences. The more Otto read the scripture the more he became excited about what he "discovered." It was quite a surprise to him to learn so many believers had never read the whole Bible through once. Filled with a hunger to encourage others to read and find the "gems" he found in the Scripture, in 1985 he wrote and taught this Bible Study with a twist. The emphasis is on "discovering the gems," not theology or doctrine. It is fast paced, fun, and simple. Its primary purpose; to encourage believers to apply Romans 10:17, "faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God."

Book Description
In writing this book, I chose to use unusual appeal, with personal vulnerability, while instilling unstructured abstract, raw writing techniques. Pure, true to life, straight from the heart, original rhyme schemes. Setting a foundation for interesting short stories and poems with a lyrical twist. I do not claim or perceive to use any set formula. My ultimate goal is to capture the reader's mind by originality. Not by following any other interpretation, rules, or guide lines. I hope to touch and relate to readers of all walks of life, in seeking answers through fiction and non-fiction experiences, by using humorous and hardship situations in real life in order to enlighten one's mind. In the day to day drudgery of life, one digs deep down in their soul to find fulfillment within themselves. To make a balance for one's life. By writing, a to the point, short story with a touch of poetic, rhythmic, writing style (found in Country music songs, only lacking the melody). I hope to captivate in the reader's mind an interesting detail of mine and others life experiences.

Book Description
In this first of a three-volume work, Vicchio addresses the most ancient Hebrew text of Job in all its complexity, with particular emphasis on the problems of evil and suffering. But he follows this with the reception history of the text--how it was translated, read, and interpreted in other ancient works: the Septuagint, apocryphal books, early Christian writings, Talmud, Midrash, Dead Sea Scrolls, and Peshitta. Two appendices detail how Job has been treated in art and architecture and in Western music. Volume 1: Job in the Ancient World Volume 2: Job in the Medieval World Volume 3: Job in the Modern World

Book Description
A “masterful and eminently readable” journey through the fascinating insights and revelations of Biblical archeology (Publishers Weekly, starred review). Many of our religious beliefs are based on faith alone, but archaeology gives us the opportunity to find evidence about what really happened in the distant past—evidence that can have a dramatic impact on what and how we believe. In Digging Through the Bible, archaeologist and rabbi Richard Freund takes readers through digs he has led in the Holy Land, searching for evidence about key biblical characters and events. Digging Through the Bible presents overviews of the evidence surrounding figures such as Moses, Kings David and Solomon, and Mary the mother of Jesus, as well as new information that can help us more fully understand the life and times in which these people would have lived. Freund also presents new evidence about finding the grave of the Teacher of Righteousness mentioned in the Dead Sea Scrolls, and gives a compelling argument about how the Exodus of the Israelites may have taken place in three separate waves over time, rather than in a single event as presented in the Bible.

Book Description
The gnarled, immutable yew tree is one of the most evocative sights in the British and Irish language, an evergreen impression of immortality, the tree that provides a living botanical link between our own landscapes and those of the distant past. This book tells the extraordinary story of the yew’s role in the landscape through the millennia, and makes a convincing case for the origins of many of the oldest trees, as markers of the holy places founded by Celtic saints in the early medieval ‘Dark Ages’. With wonderful photographic portraits of ancient yews and a gazetteer (with locations) of the oldest yew trees in Britain, the book brings together for the first time all the evidence about the dating, history, archaeology and cultural connections of the yew. Robert Bevan-Jones discusses its history, biology, the origins of its name, the yew berry and its toxicity, its distribution across Britain, means of dating examples, and their association with folklore, with churchyards, abbeys, springs, pre-Reformation wells and as landscape markers. This third edition has an updated introduction with new photographs and corrections to the main text.
