Book Description
From Publishers Weekly: "Devotees of cloak-and-dagger intrigue will revel in this thrilling and complex account." On January 16th Witzke and several confederates departed Mexico City for the U.S. border. After crossing 1500 miles of rugged territory, encountering bandits and other hazards along the way, Witzke reached Nogales. But unknown to the saboteur-assassin, the German espionage network in Mexico had been penetrated by Allied intelligence and one of his companions was a double agent. The Witzke mission was the intelligence game played at its highest level - a plan for destruction on a massive scale, violent insurrection, and assassination, complete with master spies and double agents, diabolical sabotage devices, secret codes, and invisible ink. Meticulously researched and written in the style of an adventure novel, Agent of the Iron Cross is the first detailed account of this legendary espionage operation.

Book Description
“Ben Macintyre’s rollicking, spellbinding Agent Zigzag blends the spy-versus-spy machinations of John le Carré with the high farce of Evelyn Waugh.”—William Grimes, The New York Times (Editors’ Choice) “Wildly improbable but entirely true . . . [a] compellingly cinematic spy thriller with verve.”—Entertainment Weekly ONE OF THE TEN BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR: Entertainment Weekly ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR: The New York Times Book Review, The Washington Post Eddie Chapman was a charming criminal, a con man, and a philanderer. He was also one of the most remarkable double agents Britain has ever produced. In 1941, after training as German spy in occupied France, Chapman was parachuted into Britain with a revolver, a wireless, and a cyanide pill, with orders from the Abwehr to blow up an airplane factory. Instead, he contacted M15, the British Secret service, and for the next four years, Chapman worked as a double agent, a lone British spy at the heart of the German Secret Service. Inside the traitor was a man of loyalty; inside the villain was a hero. The problem for Chapman, his spymasters, and his lovers was to know where one persona ended and the other began. Based on recently declassified files, Agent Zigzag tells Chapman’s full story for the first time. It’s a gripping tale of loyalty, love, treachery, espionage, and the thin and shifting line between fidelity and betrayal.

Book Description
One of the Second World War's most colourful individuals was double agent Eddie Chapman. Edward or Eddie Chapman was an expert safecracker and career criminal from Northern England, not an Aryan super-saboteur. He was possibly the most daring and accomplished double agent in the world at the time, unknown to everyone but the most covert agencies in the nation. He was taken in by the Abwehr, German military intelligence from a French prison, and after arriving in Britain, he switched allegiances. Eddie Chapman is evidence that a superhero need not be a face-masher with bulging muscles. He wasn't a huge man, he wasn't a murderer, and he avoided conflict whenever he could. He nevertheless succeeded in becoming one of the most colourful war heroes in British history by playing both the British and the Germans off one another, engaging in a variety of escapades, crossing a variety of redlines, and generally living up to expectations for a professional spy. The villain was a hero, and the traitor was a man of loyalty. It was difficult to determine where one character ended and the other began in Chapman. This is the real-life account of Agent Zigzag, a spy who deceived the Nazis only out of his own sense of excitement.

Book Description
Silver was the codename for the only quintuple spy of the Second World War, spying for the Italians, Germans, Japanese, Soviets and the British. The Germans awarded him the Iron Cross, Germany's highest military decoration, and paid him 2.5 million in today's money. In reality Silver deceived the Nazis on behalf of the Soviets and the British. In 1942 the Russians decided to share Silver with the British, the only time during the war that the Soviets agreed to such an arrangement. This brought him under the control of Peter Fleming who acted as his spy master. Germans also gave Silver a transmitter which broadcast misleading military information directly to Abwehr headquarters in Berlin. Silver was one of many codenames for a man whose real name was Bhagat Ram Talwar, a Hindu Pathan from the North West Frontier province of then British India. Between 1941 and 1945 Silver made twelve trips from Peshawar to Kabul to supply false information to the Germans, always making the near-200-mile journey on foot over mountain passes and hostile tribal territory. Once when an Afghan nearly rumbled him, he invited him to a curry meal in which he had mixed deadly tiger's whiskers killing the Afghan.

Is another Hitler rising to power? Tom Jaeger’s war with the Nazis began the day World War II ended . . . During those last days in the bunker, Hitler and Bormann created a plan that would perpetuate the cause of Nazism long after they were dead. A small band of highly trained agents were to be planted all over the world, someday to come together and bring final glory to the Fatherland. Rudolph Kessler was one of those sleeper agents. He was letter-perfect in English, incredibly smart, and highly resourceful. All he had to do was get through the enemy lines once the war was over, make his way to the United States, and then prepare incognito for the precise moment when the worldwide Fascist movement would once again rear its ugly head. And only one man stood in his way: Tom Jaeger. Only Tom understood the lethal, far-ranging depths of this daring plan. And he couldn’t get anyone to listen—except for one woman . . .
