Book Description
Water Must Flow Uphill Adventures in University Administration Roger Makanjuola This is a riveting story of triumph against great odds and tragedies in the ivory tower. The author, once the Chief Medical Director of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex and the Vice-Chancellor of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife has told a gripping story in his compelling memoirs. The style and honesty in which it is told makes it a revelatory and poignant read. The story is set against a determination to succeed. Spanning a period of about 15 years, the book gives an incisive insight into the challenges of managing tertiary institutions in Nigeria, most of which are still relevant today. It is an account of enormous energy, sincere and creative efforts, unalloyed commitment and love. They say every person has a book in him. This is mine. The book covers a major part of my working life; the period when I was the Chief Executive of the Teaching Hospital at Ile-Ife, Nigeria, and then the period when I was the Vice-Chancellor of the University in the same town. The Book includes many harrowing tales as well as happier times. However, this is essentially an account of the love I have for Great Ife, the hospital as well as the University. It is a love story; a tale of true love -Roger Makanjuola (Author) Roger Makanjuola is a Professor of Psychiatry. Book Description
During the past five decades, we have witnessed a tremendous evolution in water resource system management. Three characteristics of this evolution are of particular note: First, the application of the systems approach to complex water management problems has been established as one of the most important advances in the field of water resource management. Second, the past five decades have brought a remarkable transformation of attitude in the water resource management community towards environmental concerns and action to address these concerns. Third, applying the principles of sustainability to water resource decision-making requires major changes in the objectives on which decisions are based, and an understanding of the complicated inter-relationships between existing ecological, economic, and social factors. The Special Issue includes 15 contributions that offer insights into contemporary problems, approaches, and issues related to the management of complex water resources systems. It will be presumptuous to say that these 15 contributions characterize the success or failure of the systems approach to support water resources decision-making. However, these contributions offer interesting lessons from current experiences and highlight possible future work.

Book Description
This book describes the content and process for exploring and studying the social, cultural, and personal meanings inherent in activities. Authored by Gail Fidler and Beth Velde, this text examines the potential of activities to reflect and shape social, cultural, and personal meanings; to communicate certain physical, affective, and cognitive responses. Activities: Reality and Symbol guides the reader to a better understanding of activities and their potential in our lives by examining the processes of investigating and discovering the dynamics of daily activities. By looking at activities as never before, this book successfully addresses activity for its own meaning, symbol and purpose. This book is organized as a sequential, experiential learning process that includes structural assignments for interviews, personal reflections and group discussion. The beginning of the text presents an overview of the philosophy and the content focus of the book. Following chapters explain the symbolic process as giving meaning to the events and activities of daily life, and include an activity laboratory for experiencing symbol and metaphor. A detailed examination of activities, and a format for analyzing activities are explained. Final chapters apply prior learning to specific activities including play, games, sport, crafts, careers, and more.
