Charts are presented for calculating the combustion temperatures and temperature changes involved in constant-pressure thermodynamic processes of air and the products of combustion of air and hydrocarbon fuels. Examples are given in which the charts are applied to the calculation of the quantity of fuel required for combustion to a given temperature, the increase in the temperature of products of combusiton by the introduction and combustion of additional fuel, the change in enthalpy of the products of combustion with change in temperature, the equilibrium temperature resulting from the mixing of two gases representing products of combustion, and the temperature resulting from the afterburning of richer-than-stoichiometric exhaust gases with additional air. The charts are applicable only to processes in which the final fuel-air ratio is leaner than stoichiometric and at temperatures where dissociation is unimportant. They may be applied to steady-state flow processes.
