A Passage to India (1924) is a novel by the English writer E. M. Forster set in opposition to the backdrop of the British Raj and the Indian independence movement within the 1920s. E.M. Forster's A Passage to India concerns the members of the family among the English and the native population of India at some stage in the colonial period in which Britain ruled India. Aziz and Fielding go their separate ways, but two years later they have a tentative reunion. Again they are separated, symbolizing the racial politics that caused a rift in their friendship. A Passage to India was adapted into a film in 1984 and the movie was nominated for numerous Academy Awards.
