Book Description
Howling Husky Haiku are a series of mostly Alaska-inspired haiku, many of which were written off the cuff between bouts of gardening, mushing, fishing and beekeeping, and then labored over the long Alaskan winter in the course of a year. Although these haiku do not follow the traditional syllable count and sometimes neglect the seasonal themes typical of Japanese haiku, the poet has endeavored to capture the same Zen-like awareness, crystalline imagery and insightful brevity that runs with such eloquence through the likes of Basho, Buson, Issa and Shiki. In short, these haiku strive for similar ends as those of the Japanese masters, but their setting, their language, their particular brand of consciousness is always American—and often Alaskan. The howls of huskies rise over mountains and fall quiet as snow.

Book Description
My brother Denny was unable to publish his book because on April 30th, 2004 he was killed in a motorcycle accident. During Easter, he was talking about having a book signing once it was published. He was so happy with how it turned out and all the great feedback he received from family & friends the read his manuscript. I was fortunate to spend quality time with him during Easter. We never know when the angel of death is going to come for us. He took care of the pack as they fell ill and kept them comfortable until death. Riding his Harley was his preferred transportation so he died doing what he loved. Denny for as long as I can remember liked to be in the windy weather it was driving in the winter with the windows down, Skiing, Cycling, or riding motorcycles. He has now reunited with the huskies at heaven's gate. Now together again Denny is on his sled with Tasha Ko leading the pack to heaven's journey.
