Book Description
In this chaotic world, one thing that is obvious is that the enemy of God, Satan, is using his powers to attempt to deceive the Christian Church and those who have no relationship with Christ at all. He does this by any means necessary. His greatest power is that he knows our weaknesses. He is sullen, taking his time and making light of godly issues. And he is seductive, luring his prey into the world and into his train of thoughts. You must know that this is the only response that this defeated foe can have: try to bring others down into the pit of eternal damnation with him. Keep in mind that Satan has evil spirits who possess people whose only objective is to deceive God's people and the sinner man. As I am convicted to share my thoughts and ideas, my objective is to touch the hearts of people. I am one of many fighting for the very souls of mankind. This is spiritual warfare, and as a soldier, I am just doing what my Commanding Officer has commissioned me to do. I know many people will disagree with me as it is their right; however, I pray those who read this book with an open heart will be blessed in the way God intends. This work is about learning to make good choices that one might grow and be in an intimate relationship with God. This work is not about judging and condemning, but rather, in the spirit of love, I want to be sensitive and enlightening in my efforts to explain what I see as the danger of living worldly lifestyles. However, in order for me to do this, I pray that my readers will hear me out, and give me a real chance to express my beliefs and feelings. In the words of Pastor Rick Warren: "Our culture has accepted two huge lies. The first is that if you disagree with someone's lifestyle, then you must fear or hate them. The second is that to love someone means you agree with everything they believe or do. Both are nonsense. You do not have to compromise your convictions to be compassionate." We are all saved by the grace of God. However, that grace was not free. It was purchased by the blood of Jesus. Therefore, there is no room for compromise. We must know Christ as our Lord and Savior. I pray that this work will help define truth according to God's Holy Word and that this truth will set us all free.

Book Description
"This book explores the culture of deference by the legislative branch to the executive branch on foreign policy issues, particularly regarding the George W. Bush administration's rush to war in Iraq in 2003. By authorizing President Bush to go to war in Iraq at his own discretion in its October 2002 resolution, the 107th Congress abdicated its constitutional responsibility and its members failed to honor their oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States. Although the "war powers" are constitutionally those of Congress, historically presidents have engaged in war making and Congress has with limited success attempted to curb such war making. This book traces how this culture of deference to the chief executive on war making evolved and how, especially in the case of Iraq, it has adversely affected the interests of the nation, its constitutional framework, and its position in the world. This book will serve as an excellent text for courses on U.S. foreign policy, U.S. diplomatic history, and the role of Congress."--BOOK JACKET.

Book Description
This book, first published in 2000, is a full-length study of the representation of deceit and lies in classical Athens. Dr Hesk traces the ways in which Athenian drama, democratic oratory and elite prose-writing construct and theorize a relationship between dishonesty and civic identity. He focuses on the ideology of military trickery, notions of the 'noble lie' and the developing associations of rhetorical language with deceptive communication. Deception and Democracy in Classical Athens combines close analysis of Athenian texts with lively critiques of modern theorists and classical scholars. Athenian democratic culture was crucially informed by a nuanced, anxious and dynamic discourse on the problems and opportunities which deception presented for its citizenry. Mobilizing comparisons with twentieth-century democracies, the author argues that Athenian literature made deception a fundamental concern for democratic citizenship. This ancient discourse on lying highlights the dangers of modern resignation and postmodern complacency concerning the politics and morality of deception.

Book Description
In the wake of the 2008-2009 economic recession, this revealing work offers a psychological explanation of how we as a nation grapple with self-control and how we can develop a new and healthier generation. As J.R. Slosar shows in this urgent, sometimes startling volume, the nation's fast-and-loose approach to money was in fact a symptom of a more widespread pattern of excessive behavior. In The Culture of Excess: How America Lost Self-Control and Why We Need to Redefine Success, Slosar portrays an America where the drive to succeed and the fear of missing out manifested itself not only in self-entitled corporate fraud, but in everything from sharp rises in obesity and cosmetic medical procedures to equally troubling increases in eating disorders, panic attacks, and outbreaks of uncontrollable rage. The Culture of Excess is the first book to assess the impact of economic and social factors on the nation's psychological well-being. Narcissism, productive narcissism, psychopathy, rigidity and self destruction, perfectionism, the illusion of success, and identity achievement all come into play as Slosar diagnoses the psychological drivers behind this indulgent age, offering his prescription for helping "Generation Me" become "Generation We."

Book Description
This forward-thinking collection brings together over sixty essays that invoke images to summon, interpret, and argue with visual studies and its neighboring fields such as art history, media studies, visual anthropology, critical theory, cultural studies, and aesthetics. The product of a multi-year collaboration between graduate students from around the world, spearheaded by James Elkins, this one-of-a-kind anthology is a truly international, interdisciplinary point of entry into cutting-edge visual studies research. The book is fluid in relation to disciplines; it is frequently inventive in relation to guiding theories; it is unpredictable in its allegiance and interest in the past of the discipline--reflecting the ongoing growth of visual studies.
