Book Description
&Quot;VLSI Physical Design Automation: Theory and Practice is an essential introduction for senior undergraduates, postgraduates and anyone starting work in the field of CAD for VLSI. It covers all aspects of physical design, together with such related areas as automatic cell generation, silicon compilation, layout editors and compaction. A problem-solving approach is adopted and each solution is illustrated with examples. Each topic is treated in a standard format: Problem Definition, Cost Functions and Constraints, Possible Approaches and Latest Developments."--BOOK JACKET.

Book Description
This volume of The Circuits and Filters Handbook, Third Edition focuses on computer aided design and design automation. In the first part of the book, international contributors address topics such as the modeling of circuit performances, symbolic analysis methods, numerical analysis methods, design by optimization, statistical design optimization, and physical design automation. In the second half of the text, they turn their attention to RF CAD, high performance simulation, formal verification, RTK behavioral synthesis, system-level design, an Internet-based micro-electronic design automation framework, performance modeling, and embedded computing systems design.

Book Description
VLSI Design Environments investigates design alternatives such as object oriented data modelling. The difficulty of automating chip architecture designs is caused by the complexity of the problem. The explosion of design decions make a heuristic approach necessary. PLAYOUT aims at the solution of system problems based on hierarchy, top-down planning, silicon complier presentations, advances in encoding logic synthesis and a microarchitecre and logic optimization system. PLAYOUT supports the physical design from entering the structure of digital systems to the generation of the mask. The concept for autonomous tools with a clear interface to the network description and the simple interface to the graphics is presented. This enables the designer to have a great influence on the configuration of the placement of the schematic diagram. Substantial progress is being made in behavioural and logic synthesis, both of which depend upon specifications.

Book Description
This book is a single-source solution for anyone who is interested in exploring emerging reconfigurable nanotechnology at the circuit level. It lays down a solid foundation for circuits based on this technology having considered both manual as well as automated design flows. The authors discuss the entire design flow, consisting of both logic and physical synthesis for reconfigurable nanotechnology-based circuits. The authors describe how transistor reconfigurable properties can be exploited at the logic level to have a more efficient circuit design flow, as compared to conventional design flows suited for CMOS. Further, the book provides insights into hardware security features that can be intrinsically developed using the runtime reconfigurable features of this nanotechnology.

Book Description
The time has come for high-level synthesis. When research into synthesizing hardware from abstract, program-like de scriptions started in the early 1970' s, there was no automated path from the register transfer design produced by high-level synthesis to a complete hardware imple mentation. As a result, it was very difficult to measure the effectiveness of high level synthesis methods; it was also hard to justify to users the need to automate architecture design when low-level design had to be completed manually. Today's more mature CAD techniques help close the gap between an automat ically synthesized design and a manufacturable design. Market pressures encour age designers to make use of any and all automated tools. Layout synthesis, logic synthesis, and specialized datapath generators make it feasible to quickly imple ment a register-transfer design in silicon, leaving designers more time to consider architectural improvements. As IC design becomes more automated, customers are increasing their demands; today's leading edge designers using logic synthesis systems are training themselves to be tomorrow's consumers of high-level synthe sis systems. The need for very fast turnaround, a competitive fabrication market WhlCh makes small-quantity ASIC manufacturing possible, and the ever growing co:n plexity of the systems being designed, all make higher-level design automaton inevitable.
