These proceedings present the relevant topics of the day while keeping our more popular and well-attended sessions as cornerstones from year to year. Several new topics including "Autonomous Control of Multiple Vehicles" and "Results and Experiences from OSIRIS-REx" were directly influenced by advancements in our industry. In the end, the 44th Annual GN&C conference became a timely reflection of the current state of the GN&C ins the space industry. The annual American Astronautical Society Rocky Mountain Guidance, Navigation and Control (GN&C) Conference began 1977 as an informal exchange of ideas and reports of achievements among guidance and control specialists local to the Colorado area. Bud Gates, Don Parsons, and Bob Culp organized the first conference, and began the annual series of meetings the following winter. In March 1978, the First Annual Rocky Mountain Guidance and Control Conference met at Keystone, Colorado. It met there for eighteen years, moving to Breckenridge in 1996 where it has been for over 25 years

Advances in Distributed Parameter Systems
Author: Jean Auriol
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 3030947661
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 301
Book Description
The proposed book presents recent breakthroughs for the control of distributed parameter systems and follows on from a workshop devoted to this topic. It introduces new and unified visions of the challenging control problems raised by distributed parameter systems. The book collects contributions written by prominent international experts in the control community, addressing a wide variety of topics. It spans the full range from theoretical research to practical implementation and follows three traverse axes: emerging ideas in terms of control strategies (energy shaping, prediction-based control, numerical control, input saturation), theoretical concepts for interconnected systems (with potential non-linear actuation dynamics), advanced applications (cable-operated elevators, traffic networks), and numerical aspects. Cutting-edge experts in the field contributed in this volume, making it a valuable reference source for control practitioners, graduate students, and scientists researching practical and theoretical solutions to the challenging problems raised by distributed parameter systems.

Languages : en
Pages : 456
Book Description
The main subject matter of the book is related to the demands of research and industrial centers for diagnostics, monitoring, and decision-making systems that result from the increasing complexity of automation and systems, the need to ensure the highest level of reliability and safety, and continuing research and the development of innovative approaches to fault diagnosis. Most welcome are combinations of domains of engineering knowledge for diagnosis, including detection, isolation, localization, identification, reconfiguration, and fault-tolerant control. This field is open to new challenges, including industrial diagnostics, diagnostics of computer systems and networks, as well as non-industrial applications in the form of medical diagnostics, especially those based on artificial intelligence and deep neural networks. Our community is mainly interested in the following six topics: fault detection, isolation, and identification (FDI); (ii) fault-tolerant control systems; (iii) process safety, quality, and reliability; (iv) medical diagnostics; as well as (v) methodologies based on mathematical modeling, parameter identification and state estimation, qualitative models, statistical and signal processing, artificial intelligence, fuzzy logic and rough sets, expert systems, neural networks; and (vi) industrial applications of diagnostics in fault-tolerant problems, safety, monitoring and alarming, quality control, computer systems and networks, diagnostic software, software reliability, medicine and therapy, environment protection, production control, and other industries such as chemistry, electronics, and power systems. The book is divided into six parts: (I) Artificial Intelligence in Medicine; (II) Cybersecurity; (III) Artificial Neural Networks; (IV) Fault Detection; (V) Systems Modeling; and (VI) Adaptive, Robust and FTC Systems.

Handbook of Model-Based Systems Engineering
Author: Azad M. Madni
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 3030935825
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 1362
Book Description
This handbook brings together diverse domains and technical competences of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) into a single, comprehensive publication. It is intended for researchers, practitioners, and students/educators who require a wide-ranging and authoritative reference on MBSE with a multidisciplinary, global perspective. It is also meant for those who want to develop a sound understanding of the practice of systems engineering and MBSE, and/or who wish to teach both introductory and advanced graduate courses in systems engineering. It is specifically focused on individuals who want to understand what MBSE is, the deficiencies in current practice that MBSE overcomes, where and how it has been successfully applied, its benefits and payoffs, and how it is being deployed in different industries and across multiple applications. MBSE engineering practitioners and educators with expertise in different domains have contributed chapters that address various uses of MBSE and related technologies such as simulation and digital twin in the systems lifecycle. The introductory chapter reviews the current state of practice, discusses the genesis of MBSE and makes the business case. Subsequent chapters present the role of ontologies and meta-models in capturing system interdependencies, reasoning about system behavior with design and operational constraints; the use of formal modeling in system (model) verification and validation; ontology-enabled integration of systems and system-of-systems; digital twin-enabled model-based testing; system model design synthesis; model-based tradespace exploration; design for reuse; human-system integration; and role of simulation and Internet-of-Things (IoT) within MBSE.
