At first, scientists believed pollution caused the great cloud barrier but that theory proved to be false. What caused the Dry Clouds to form baffled scientists, and how to reverse them eluded reason, and only technology's constant battle with nature has kept the dark city alive. Over the last twenty years, Transgenics and bio-mechas evolved at a breakneck pace.
