Book Description
Author : Urvi Kochhar There is this very big problem with growing up -we don't realize when we cross that fine line and outgrow instead of growing. Growing is a part of life; it is natural so to say. But this phenomenon is defined in absolutely different ways by different people. My neighbour had his first correspondence with the tooth fairy... a fourteen-year-old had her menarche... somebody just got their driver's license... another one just drank the hidden booze. My friend got into the college of his dreams and well, they all grew up! And as far as I am concerned, I am still trying to figure it out.We all have certain connotations about the different stages of life, certain milestones that mark their ends and beginnings. Well, I am just seventeen. People say that the time when you step into this world all by yourself is not far. My head and ambitions quite know when that is going to happen, but my heart just does not want to accept it. A little more time... a little more time... if only I had a little more time. But you know what's the best part, no matter what happens, I still grow up. What I have realized is that it is not so important to define what defines growing. Because when we do so, we spoil the whole process of growing. So yeah, I am growing everyday and learning too. This enormous thing you are reading is my first ever brand- new poetry book, right from my heart to yours. Enormous, because this amalgamation touches everything from life to after life and from love to pride. And of-course it tells how much I have grown XD. So, are you ready for a bumpy ride?

Category : Fiction

Pages : 132
Book Description
There are planets not meant to be colonized by humans. For three decades they will sleep, while their great colonial starship transports them to what is believed to be the perfect world. Their ship is state-of-the-art and totally automatic, allowing the passengers to remain in suspended animation for most of the journey. When they wake, they expect to find a virgin planet, unspoiled by the hands of man - a world where they can pursue happiness in a safe and free environment. The naive colonists from Earth have a different reality to face. Readers Favorites AL CLARK (Book One) Literary Review ★★★★★ by Paul F. Johnson Al Clark by Jonathan G. Meyer grabs the readers attention from the first page. One of my favorite genres is science fiction, above all, space opera. I found Al Clark to be space opera and more. I call it space adventure. The author has created a strong, believable set of characters, particularly the First Six. The story plot is strong and steady with several well designed twists, leaving a true space opera and space adventure fan expectantly waiting to turn the next page. I strongly recommend this book for those that enjoy good sci-fi. Good story. What the readers are saying: ★★★★★ Scifi as it was meant to be - Jennifer Seidler ★★★★★ I have a new (to me) author to add to my favorites - Lesley Wood ★★★★★ Scifi at its best, intrigue, robots, action, mystery, and very witty. Loved it! - Montzalee Wittman ★★★★★ Good old fashioned sci-fi - CenVillager ★★★★ Reminds me a little of the Sci-Fi of days gone by - jcat-top 500 reviewer ★★★★★ Classic Space Opera at its best - K.G. Evans Jr. ★★★★★ Finally, A Great World Exploration Sci-Fi Book - GeneK6 Available in Digital, Paperback, and AudioBook

Lofty Tales
Author: William Borland
Publisher: Lulu.com
ISBN: 1684714354
Category : Sports & Recreation
Languages : en
Pages : 196
Book Description
William C. Borland started his adulthood hiking up all forty-six peaks of the Adirondack Mountains. Before long, the more adventurous individuals in his group began to hike the high points of Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. Then, they began talking about how to hike the 2,160-mile-long Georgia-to-Maine Appalachian Trail. After reading Seven Summits by Frank Wells and Dick Bass, who detailed how they climbed the highest mountain on each continent, Borland was inspired to set his sights even higher. Suddenly, it seemed possible for a mere mortal without superhuman climbing strength or skills to scale the highest mountains, and he decided to climb Mount McKinley (now known as Denali) in Alaska. From there, he began mountaineering and riding his bicycle on all seven continents.

Al's Well
Author: Gregory Dark
Publisher: John Hunt Publishing
ISBN: 1780992084
Category : Fiction
Languages : en
Pages : 235
Book Description
The mid-life crisis becomes the lifetime’s crisis. The fling becomes the affair , the affair becomes the love affair , the love affair becomes the murder. Set within the châteaux and vineyards of Southern France, ‘Al’s Well’ is a story of many kinds of love: of sexual passion and emotional desperation; of cravings for romance and danger and fulfilment; of lusts simultaneously for the intimate and the superficial; of proscribed love buttressing married love. At one level, ‘Al’s Well’ is the tale of the adulterous affair between the sassy American, Trove, and the geeky Englishman, Mike. At another, it chronicles the consequent deepening of the relationship of Trove with her sculptor husband, Al. At all levels, ‘Al’s Well’ is love under the microscope – but a microscope of lenses either chortling with laughter or crumpled in tears , or both. Gregory Dark already enjoys a reputation for prose of enormous wit, charm and beauty. These qualities are again in abundance in this, his first book of which love is the central theme.

George Lucas
Author: George Lucas
Publisher: Univ. Press of Mississippi
ISBN: 9781578061242
Category : Performing Arts
Languages : en
Pages : 276
Book Description
A director, producer, and writer, George Lucas is the power behind "The Force." The son of a conservative small-town businessman, he grew up to become arguably the most identifiable and popular filmmaker in the history of the medium. Yet unlike his more publicly engaged contemporaries, Lucas rarely grants reporters an audience. This first book of Lucas's interviews affords fans and students of film and science fiction a rare opportunity. Editor Sally Kline collects conversations from the reticent director spanning Lucas's entire career, from the making of his first film, 1971's "THX-1138," through "American Graffiti," the triumph of the "Star Wars" trilogy, and even a 1999 interview given while awaiting the release of "Star Wars: Episode One--The Phantom Menace." In interviews from venues such as "Rolling Stone," "Playboy," and "American Film," Lucas reveals his distrust of the Hollywood establishment, his love for making movies, and his unambiguous values and how those values translate into the epic clash between good and evil created when he explores characters like Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker. Lucas revolutionized the movie industry and created the most successful film series of all time. Along with films of his close friend Steven Spielberg, Lucas's releases invented the notion of blockbuster movies. Before the end of the millennium, he could count the loyal fans of the Star Wars trilogy in the millions. Sally Kline is film critic for "The Journal" newspapers. She has worked as a film commentator on a number of Washington, D.C. radio stations and as a guest lecturer at George Washington University. A freelance writer and researcher, she has contributed to two books, including a biography of Robert F. Kennedy.
