Book Description
An introduction to urine therapy's amazing effectiveness in treating a wide array of physical complaints. • Contains effective treatments for acne, asthma, hair loss, indigestion, infections, migraines, warts, wrinkles, and many other common ailments. • Examines the historical use of urine therapy in the United States, Europe, and Asia. • Includes a program for overcoming initial aversion to urine therapy. If you are like most people, trained from their earliest years to regard urine as a mere waste product, the thought of using it for its healing powers may seem shocking. Yet urine has long played an important role in the holistic medical traditions of societies all over the world, and is even mentioned in the Ebers Medical Papyri of ancient Egypt. For centuries people have been availing themselves of urine's incredible curative powers for ailments ranging from anemia to warts. Urine is free, sterile, and acts homeopathically to "prepare" the immune system. Urine Therapy includes many case histories of people who have successfully treated their ailments with urine, along with cogent explanations of why urine does what it does, how to ensure that the wastes flushed out with your urine aren't taken back in, and why urine may be the best tonic available for your immune system. In addition to protocols for using urine to treat a wide array of diseases, the book offers a program that teaches you step-by-step to overcome any initial aversion to urine therapy. Still playing an important role in the medical systems of countries as diverse as Germany, Japan, and India, this surprising health treatment has been gaining popularity in the United States.

Book Description
At the tender age of 15, the author set out to discover the answers to two questions – “What is disease?” and “What does disease signify?” His quest began in 1966 when he enrolled in the School of Veterinary Medicine and Science at the University of Liverpool. After 5 years of study he then worked as a Veterinary Clinician and Surgeon in large animal practice for 8 years. This experience did not answer the questions. In 1975 he began living, thinking and eating according to macrobiotic principles and philosophy, and as he did, the answers to these questions began to become clearer. In 1982, he discovered the work of Rudolf Steiner, and as he began to study his lecture cycles and books, the answers became revealed. The End of Medicine is the result of over 40 years of study, experience, and learning working with thousands of sick individuals from all walks of life. The contents of the book describe how and why illnesses develop, what illness signifies, and makes a distinction between illness, disease and health. The crucial significance of the digestive processes of assimilation and elimination in the onset of illnesses and recovery of health are described in detail. The book thus fulfils the indication given by Rudolf Steiner in a lecture, given in 1923, where he says, “a modern system of medicine must always take the metabolic system, that is to say the normal processes of digestion, as its point of departure, and starting from there it must deduce how internal illnesses in the widest possible sense can arise from the metabolism”. In addition, the book contains instruction on how to do self-diagnosis and then gives the reader, speaking imaginatively, a pair of new legs, a compass and a map. The reader who is sufficiently inspired can then learn to use the “new pair of legs”, comprising a change to a macrobiotic way of eating and doing the ginger compress regimen described, learning how to use “the compass”, yin and yang theory, and use “the map” contained in the latter chapters to explore the new territory which opens up before us as we do so.

Book Description
A medical history of Scotland, including practices, innovations, politics, diseases and pandemics, from medieval times to the twentieth century. Scotland offers almost unique opportunities for medical historians. For a conventional history, there is a rich stock of famous doctors and their discoveries. There are also the contributions of four ancient universities and three equally old colleges of physicians and surgeons. For historians of public health there is the famous struggle against the problems of the industrial revolution and the lives and works of the great sanitary reformers in Glasgow and Edinburgh. For the social historian there are equal opportunities in the diversity of the health care in the Highlands and Lowlands, the rich traditions of Scottish folk medicine and the interactions of Scottish and English medical practice. Much else can be learnt in relating Scotland's great innovative periods to her cultural and political state at the time. In this book, author David Hamilton explores new sources and evaluates the rich history of medicinal practices in Scotland. Thus, for historians both of medicine and of Scotland, this study is necessary to more fully understand the country's history.

Book Description
Understand and make use of the connections between health and religion to improve your practice! Research points to a clear link between people's religious beliefs and practices and their health. These developments have ushered in a new era in health care, in which meaning and purpose stand alongside biology as vital factors in health outcomes. Now the gap is closing between medicine and religion, as evidenced by the more than 60 US medical school courses now being given in spirituality, religion, and medicine, including courses at major teaching centers such as Harvard, Johns Hopkins, Brown, Case-Western, and others. Faith, Spirituality, and Medicine: Toward the Making of the Healing Practitioner promotes the integration of spirituality into medical care by exploring the connection between patient health and traditional religious beliefs and practices. This useful guide emphasizes basic, easily understood principles that will help health professionals apply current research findings linking religion, spirituality, and health. Faith, Spirituality, and Medicine does not advocate any particular set of beliefs or evangelize as it helps you integrate spiritual care into the care of patients by showing you how to: take a patient's spiritual history correlate religious beliefs with health beliefs address the individual spiritual needs of your patients choose a course of treatment that is in agreement with the religious belief of the patient incorporate appropriate clergy into treatment plans Faith, Spirituality, and Medicine describes a biopsychosocial-spiritual model that emphasizes the need to view patients not simply as biological creatures, but as physical, psychological, social, and spiritual beings if they are to be effectively treated and healed as whole persons.
