Pages : 165
Book Description
What is the one aspect of this broken world that, when you see it, touch it, get near it, you just can’t stand? Very likely, that firestorm of frustration reflects your holy discontent, a reality so troubling that you are thrust off the couch and into the game. It’s during these defining times when your eyes open to the needs surrounding you and your heart hungers to respond that you hear God say, “I feel the same way about this problem. Now, let’s go solve it together!”Bill Hybels invites you to consider the dramatic impact your life will have when you allow your holy discontent to fuel instead of frustrate you. Using examples from the Bible, his own life, and the experiences of others, Hybels shows how you can find and feed your personal area of holy discontent, fight for it when things get risky, and follow it when it takes a mid-course turn. As you live from the energy of your holy discontent, you’ll fulfill your role in setting what is wrong in this world right!

Book Description
Through the years, I have felt a deep bewilderment regarding humankind's varied interpretations of God's Word and/or of those Spiritual teachings which have been attributed to the Messengers of God. I took a monumental leap of Faith and went beyond the boundaries of organized religion; I went to The Source Itself; The Source of all TRUTH, God, my Creator. It was only recently that I was privileged to be Given a Direct Line to TRUTH: a new Revelation on how to Commune directly with God, our Creator. As an analogy, God Served as the Master Storage Bank of all TRUTH; my mind became as the Terminal Computer and the Modem was The Christ or my At-ONEment with God. No longer need I be dependent upon the word of humankind; through The Mediator, The Christ, I was now provided with an immediate, untarnished Access to God's Word. For those who do not believe that humankind today can have direct Access to God's Word, may I suggest re-reading with an open mind these verses attributed to Jesus, The Christ as written in the Holy Bible; St. John 14: 12-14: "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. "And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. "If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it." Does humankind Truly Believe as Jesus, The Christ did, "I and my Father are One...?" It was through my TRUE Self, The Christ Self, during my Communion with God Mind that all quoted material of Return to TRUTH was Given to me in Answer to my questions, my questions which were Seeking the TRUTH that will set humankind free. Remember: "Understanding (that which is NEW), will need an openness of mind as that which is NEW tends to destroy that which is OLD. Openness means willingness to entertain NEW ideas. Amen."

Keeping the Sabbath Wholly
Author: Marva J. Dawn
Publisher: Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing
ISBN: 1467419591
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 234
Book Description
“But I don’t wanna go to church!” Marva Dawn has often heard that cry—and not only from children. “What a sad commentary it is on North American spirituality,” she writes, “that the delight of ‘keeping the Sabbath day’ has degenerated into the routine and drudgery—even the downright oppressiveness—of ‘going to church.’” According to Dawn, the phrase “going to church” both reveals and promotes bad theology: it suggests that the church is a static place when in fact the church is the people of God. The regular gathering together of God’s people for worship is important—it enables them to be church in the world—but the act of worship is only a small part of observing the Sabbath. This refreshing book invites the reader to experience the wholeness and joy that come from observing God’s order for life—a rhythm of working six days and setting apart one day for rest, worship, festivity, and relationships. Dawn develops a four-part pattern for keeping the Sabbath: (1)ceasing—not only from work but also from productivity, anxiety, worry, possessiveness, and so on; (2) resting— of the body as well as the mind, emotions, and spirit—a wholistic rest; (3) embracing—deliberately taking hold of Christian values, of our calling in life, of the wholeness God offers us; (4) feasting—celebrating God and his goodness in individual and corporate worship as well as feasting with beauty, music, food, affection, and social interaction. Combining sound biblical theology and research into Jewish traditions with many practical suggestions, Keeping the Sabbath Wholly offers a healthy balance between head and heart: the book shows how theological insights can undergird daily life and practice, and it gives the reader both motivation and methods for enjoying a special holy day. Dawn’s work— unpretentiously eloquent, refreshingly personal in tone, and rich with inspiring example—promotes the discipline of Sabbath-keeping not as a legalistic duty but as the way to freedom, delight, and joy. Christians and Jews, pastors and laypeople, individuals and small groups—all will benefit greatly from reading and discussing the book and putting its ideas into practice.

Living with the Father
Author: Mary A. Wood
Publisher: Xlibris Corporation
ISBN: 1465339833
Category : Family & Relationships
Languages : en
Pages : 185
Book Description
Adoption has had a stigma in many societies throughout history. Our own society is no different. Many people don’t like the idea of adoption because they believe they could never love a child that was not their biological child like they would love their own. The ones who do venture out and adopt children often face difficult trials with those children because the child feels abandoned, though they have “new” parents who love them. God is the giver of children no matter how they are obtained. He is the one who orchestrates the events to match up parents and children. It was the case in Queen Esther’s life. She was orphaned at a very young age and then adopted by her older cousin Mordecai. Mordecai loved Esther like his own daughter. He was a devout Jew and loved God. He instilled in Esther an unwavering faith in God and an uncompromising set of values that stood the test of the highest position a woman could have in the whole kingdom. Esther didn’t spend her early womanhood feeling sorry for herself because she was orphaned or adopted. She trusted God and was obedient to her cousin/adopted father. Since I have had the pleasure and the pain that accompanies adoption, I better understand my own adoption into my heavenly Father’s family. Adoption is a beautiful experience. It opens your heart up for more love than you ever thought possible. It’s not without it’s trials and questions, but then neither is motherhood by biological birth giving. I experienced both. I have had trials and questions about what God was doing in both cases. Never the less, opening your heart to any child is a beautiful thing. Esther had a beautiful submissive spirit. She never questioned Mordecai’s role in her life. She was obedient to him. As the story unfolds in the book of Esther, you see that Esther either grasped the big picture or was willing to trust that her father knew what he was talking about and trusted God for the outcome. Because of that, God used her mightily and the whole Jewish nation was spared. When I reflect on the adoption experience, I have watched a beautiful woman emerge. That has taught me about the beauty that God wants to bring out in me as His adopted daughter.
