The Rumphulus
Author: Joseph G. Peterson
Publisher: University of Iowa Press
ISBN: 1609387309
Category : Fiction
Languages : en
Pages : 136
Book Description
Romulus was the founder of Rome; and those tossed outside the city-gate are not Romulus’s children but the cast-offs living in hovels, the Rumphulus. However, this isn’t ancient Rome, but rather the nature preserve of a contemporary American suburb. The outcasts don’t understand why they’ve been relegated to the woods. Nor do they know if they will ever summon the courage to cross the roads that act as a physical and psychological barrier to their reentry into conventional society. Daily they negotiate the harsh conditions of the wild and the dangerous presence of one another while they contemplate their exiles. That is until society comes for one of them. The Rumphulus have grown their beards long, and when they can no longer stand life they howl like wolves; only they are not wolves but the stranded city outcasts who howl in pain.

With lots of encouragement from her husband she can experience things she has never experienced, act in ways she would have never thought to act and see her as she has never seen herself before. This book is about a shy young lady who spends most of her time trapped inside a box. She meets a young man, who makes an unbelievable connection with her. A connection that makes her want to explore a side of her that no one has ever seen that she never knew she had. She does this by taking on a character that she finds in a book. She lives a little through the eyes of the character while finding so many of this character’s desires within herself. She finds the strength to pull herself out of her shell by living through the book.

The Dance of Eros and Thanatos: Butoh and Queer Pedagogy
Author: Damiano Fina
Publisher: Lulu.com
ISBN: 0244780633
Category : Social Science
Languages : en
Pages : 168
Book Description
On the basis of the biological characteristics that distinguish two different procreative modalities, the naturalization of the roles between masculine and feminine has been created, which has led to the creation of the stereotypes and conventions known to us today. What is at stake is not only the freedom of expression of the human organism, it is the possibility of leading a life worthy of being lived, without suffering the violence of a society that makes it unbearable because it does not conform to the norm. Queer pedagogy is a methodology that aims to make the organism experience transformative experiences through mimesic performances. From these experiences, queer pedagogy expects the possibility of facilitating the free expression of the truth that each organism recognizes in its own depth in a comfortable and welcoming context through the dance of Eros and Thanatos. A book about Pedagogy, Queer Theory and Butoh Dance.

The Goodness of Judgment
Author: Jeff McSwain
Publisher: Wipf and Stock Publishers
ISBN: 1666739227
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 447
Book Description
In this volume McSwain continues to deploy Karl Barth, Julian of Norwich, Athanasius, James Cone, and dozens of others to buttress his claim about human duplicity and the Easter asymmetry which allows us to properly interpret our lives by the gospel. Specifically, the focus is on Christ’s cross which provides the radical discontinuity (judgment) needed to preserve the continuity of God’s good creation. In resurrection light we see the inner connection of re-creation to creation, an atonement that disentangles good from evil, righteousness from sin, and life from death. Even though the perfect clarity of this liberating separation is reserved for judgment day, this same judgment of grace frees us to live now as “eschatological activists” in the Liberator’s way of justice and peace. In view of the cross, the Spirit empowers us to live in the hidden truth of who Christ is and who we have always been in Christ, as God’s beloved in the Trinitarian communion. McSwain’s cosmic vision pictures all people sharing in Christ’s sufferings and also in his glory. Thus, the reconciled human community genuinely participates “as one” in Christ’s victory over sin, death, and the devil.

All Things Spiritual
Author: Phillip Eldridge Williams
Publisher: Xlibris Corporation
ISBN: 166980254X
Category : Self-Help
Languages : en
Pages : 603
Book Description
This short quip referred to in conversation and seen often in descriptive writing as well as various and sundry speeches is in reality on shaky ground when taken apart. The truth has been the object of the search of man since he became serious with his ontology from earliest recorded history and finds its way in most academic institutions with each Latin phrase in its logo. Matter has always been taken for granted but until recently (1939) with the declaration of the Physicists community in Copenhagen, Denmark has acknowledged that indeed there is no final field theory for locating reality. In this book I will attempt to speak to this lack of reality by delving into the state of being, or lack thereof, I will refer to as spirituality and the Native American priority given to the Great Spirit and the answer they give to one's ontology (why one is here) known as their vision quest. We will investigate spirituality as that encounter we all must deal with in our religious medium for finding some sense of meaning and its answer to our need for respect. I'll look at the Judeo/Christian offering of the image of God and the spooky-goings-on-at-a-distance stipulated by Albert Einstein as well as the implications of Galileo's insightful declaration in the 17th century that all meaning begins with experience (spirituality) and ends with experience, that spirituality is all that there is and to offer proposals based upon purely logic alone is meaningless as regards reality. Spirituality in the best sense of the word is your taking serious your honor as well as that of others. This could be seen as the First and Greatest Commandment and the Second like unto it Thy neighbor as thyself. This work is the culmination of 15 years of writing and a lifetime of seeking first the kingdom of God and his righteousness having all these things being added unto me. (Matthew 6:33) Now to have all these things added unto you is to be quickened with eyes to see and ears to hear things/matter as they are and not from the might-makes-right syndrome or the what’s-in-it-for-me modus operandi. This quickening power is the mighty-hand-of-God as opposed to the hand-of-God revealing the nature of truth, God's righteousness as being no respecter of persons, time, place or thing and doing so unconditionally. This is indeed the Final Field or the Truth of the Matter.
