SOMETIMES A DARK PAST CAN HAUNT YOU. OTHER TIMES IT JUST MAY BE THE ONLY THING KEEPING YOU ALIVE. Fresh out of college with his Ship Engineer 3rd-Class certificate, Dave Walker’s only thought is to try to find a berth on a corporate ship plying the trade routes between the many habs, orbitals, and moons in the Solar System. The problem for Dave, however, isn't his straight C average; it's that his stepfather, a powerful Earth Senator he’s never met, now wants him dead. Forced to take the first berth he can find, Dave ends up on the Iowa Hill, an old tramp freighter running with a minimal crew and nearing the end of its useful life, plying the routes that the corporations ignore and visiting the kinds of places that the folks on Earth pretend don’t exist. Between the assassins, the criminals, and the pirates he needs to deal with, Dave is discovering that there are a lot of things out there that he still needs to learn. But there’s one hard lesson he learned long ago that he’s being forced to remember: how to be ruthless. At the publisher's request, this title is sold without DRM (Digital Rights Management).

Book Description
Thelma Thompson, at age 92, is the well loved and respected matriarch of a very large family. Born in 1919 in Monticello, Illinois to Luther Gordon Thompson and Ida May Harvill Thompson, she was brought back to Georgia when the marriage didnt last. Later, May met a handsome man in South Floridas orange groves who became Thelmas stepfather. Robert Lee Bembry (Bob) was reared on a farm in Lee, Florida so eventually the family returned there and Bob became a happy sharecropper. He and May were the perfect couple, working together as a team. Thelma was a real bookworm and loved school, Lee Junior High was a wonderful school from which she graduated in 34. In 36 she graduated from Madison High. Shortly thereafter her plan to be an old maid school teacher changed completely when she married Walter Miclar (Dice) Driggers, a handsome blond Greek God type, famous for both his brawn and brain and was known as Tarzan of the Withlacoochee. Results of the marriage were eight lovely children. Unfortunately though, the marriage ended after 20 years as did a second one after nine. So, at age 51, with children now on their own, Thelma went back to school. She entered North Florida Junior College and earned her AA degree in a year and a half with honors, Magna Cum Laude and a member of Phi Theta Kappa, also was a contributor to both the yearbook and the campus newspaper, thus proving to herself that she had not lost her thirst for knowledge. At graduation, at which Dr. Thomas Carpenter, President of the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, had been invited to speak, she was presented with a scholarship by him. During the next three years, though her grades were good, Thelma was no longer just a bookworm. She jumped into college life, with both feet, enjoying it fully. She worked in the office of the Dean of Arts and Sciences (he pronounced her indispensable!) until the Dean of Student Activities wanted her to be the editor of all publications

Book Description
Practical Ideas for Teaching Primary Science is a fun and interactive guide which supports teachers to design and deliver enjoyable science lessons. Peter Loxley explores different scientific topics – from growing plants and nutrition to forces and magnetism – with an emphasis on story-telling and art to help children share their ideas and work collaboratively in the classroom. This practical guide uses a three-stage framework design to encourage and guide sociocultural practice across three levels: KS1 (5–7), lower KS2 (7–9) and upper KS2 (9–11). The ideas for practice are placed in engaging and significant contexts to encourage curiosity and enquiry and, most importantly, promote feelings of pleasure and satisfaction from science learning. Teachers are guided through hands-on puzzles and activities such as role-play and design and technology tasks both inside and outside of the classroom, with health and safety aspects highlighted throughout, to inspire children’s interest in how the world works from an early age and provide them with the skills to apply their new-found scientific thinking in other contexts. Extended subject knowledge to all topics covered in this book can be found in Teaching Primary Science. A companion website is available for both books. Features include: web links to external sites with useful teaching information and resources an interactive flashcard glossary to test students’ understanding Image bank with downloadable pictures for use in the classroom. Practical Ideas for Teaching Primary Science is an invaluable teaching resource for both trainee and qualified teachers.

Book Description
I am probably the worst fisherman. I love to fish but seem to catch very few. I traveled the Western United States for the last eight years. My girlfriend took most of the pictureswhen we were not able to stop, when the park traffic was packed, or when we had distance to cover. Most of the time we had our two puppies, Lala and Lulu, with us. Fishing poles on the bike. The dogs on the top bag ready to go. Our last spring, summer, and fall, the dogs travelled fifty thousand miles with us. Corina and I would not know what to do without them. I sold my Harley and moved to Costa Rica. It is the first time in forty years that I did not own a motorcycle. My wife passed away eight years ago, and I began to write poetry. This will be my ninth book published through Xlibris. I love to write simple prose and travel. This is my third travel log. I hope you enjoy it. Please check out my website: www.understanding-online.com. It is a fun website with lots of buttons (especially the buy buttons). Any questions? My e-mail is: [email protected]. May you have a great life, pura vida (the good life)! Timothy M. Nugent
