Book Description
‘Easy Read Scripts’ Giving kids the confidence to read and act Easy Read Scripts is a collection of 20 short scripts for any age and any gender. Whether you’re looking to improve children’s literacy and drama skills, or even get them on their feet and interacting with others, these scripts are easy to follow, well-structured and a bundle of laughs. Ranging from 2 – 4 people per piece, whether you need some material for a drama lesson or have an upcoming audition, these scripts are extremely versatile and will encourage children to explore literacy and drama skills. Written around many familiar environments and situations, the possibilities are endless! Whether you want to write alternative endings, encourage others to direct, perform short comical pieces for public performances; there are many uses for these short and playful scripts! Side note from author; Every published book of scripts I have researched or come across either refer to names or genders. I unintentionally invested in creating a book of genderless scripts, but the idea suddenly became quite prominent in our current day and age where more and more children are exploring gender and how they wish to identify. I started with the intention of creating work for my drama classes, where there was an uneven ratio of female identifying-children to male-identifying children. I wanted all of my children to feel as comfortable as possible when exploring the work; to focus on giving something a go and not have to face any unnecessary hurdles, such as whether or not they could be part of a group if the script writing didn’t allow. The more I wrote, the more I fell in love with the idea of drama and theatre being a medium where children don’t have to worry about being ‘boys’ or ‘girls’, and instead simply exploring text and enjoying the work in front of them.

Book Description
This book aims to raise awareness about the possibility of achieving the goals of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD), in order for all disabled people to enjoy the benefit of human rights. The stories of people who have been supported to enjoy their rights and their citizenship will enable readers to focus on how services and support can enable people with a learning disability to have their rights upheld, with an outcome of citizenship, independence and achievement. Despite the UNCRDP being in place since 2006, a significant number of learning disability service provider organisations and professionals in the UK are not aware of its existence. This book aims to bridge the gap between policy and practice to demonstrate the value of a human rights approach as the foundation for services and support for people with a learning disability.

Book Description
In 2014 the world’s most widely ratified human rights treaty, one specifically for children, reached the milestone of its twenty-fifth anniversary. The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child was adopted after the fall of the Berlin Wall, and in the time since then it has entered a new century, reshaping laws, policies, institutions and practices across the globe, along with fundamental conceptions of who children are, their rights and entitlements, and society’s duties and obligations to them. Yet despite its rapid entry into force worldwide, there are concerns that the Convention remains a high-level paper treaty without the traction on the ground needed to address ever-continuing violations of children’s rights. This book, based on papers from the conference ‘25 Years CRC’ held by the Department of Child Law at Leiden University, draws together a rich collection of research and insight by academics, practitioners, NGOs and other specialists to reflect on the lessons of the past 25 years, take stock of how international rights find their way into children’s lives at the local level, and explore the frontiers of children’s rights for the 25 years ahead.

Book Description
Much of what we think we know about the law is actually a myth or misconception. This book debunks many of those myths and misconceptions by providing an entertaining yet educational tour of our American legal system, including its many oddities. In the process, the book answers many interesting legal questions about some of our most important, fascinating, and surprising laws in an array of areas. For example, the police do not have to read you your rights when they arrest you; in fact, sometimes they can even interrogate you without reading you your rights. Moreover, you can be charged and convicted of drunk driving for just turning the ignition key, even if you never drive the car or start the engine! While some contracts do have to be in writing to be enforceable, most don''t. The authors explain why. Written in a lively, appealing style, the book is composed of self-contained chapters, each addressing a distinct legal myth, oddity, question, or misconception. Select your favorite topic or enjoy the authors'' witty and very informative discussion of the law cover-to-cover. Either way, you are assured of being entertained, enlightened, and surprised!
