North Saskatchewan River Water Quality Model
Author: Darcy McDonald
Publisher:
ISBN: 9780778587941
Category : North Saskatchewan River (Alta. and Sask.)
Languages : en
Pages : 155
Book Description
This report documents the configuration, calibration and validation of an in-stream water quality model for the mainstem of the North Saskatchewan River from Devon to 38 kilometers downstream of the Alberta-Saskatchewan Border. Hydrodynamics, water temperature, dissolved oxygen, organic carbon, nutrients, algal interactions, and other parameters were modelled under the influence of tributaries, municipal wastewater treatement plants, industrial facilities, combined sewer overflows, and storm water. As refinement of the model is an ongoing effort, this document is designed to allow information on model revisions to be included as additional updates are completed. A "Summary of Revisions" tracking table is provided as the beginning of the document to make the user aware of any changes to the document. Updates will be released as available.--Document.

Water Quality of the Battle River, Overview
Author:
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 26
Book Description
The Battle River is a tributary of the North Saskatchewan River that flows from Battle Lake, Alberta eastward. This report contains a comprehensive review of water quality in this river. It begins with background on the river, its hydrology, and potential sources of pollution. It then summarizes a 1989-90 study of Battle River water quality and evaluates the water quality data. Results from the study are presented with regard to such water quality parameters as temperature, dissolved oxygen, major ions, suspended solids, nutrients, carbon, metals, and organic compounds, as well as the river's content of plants, bacteria, and aquatic invertebrates. The final section discusses seasonal & temporal changes in water quality, the influence of human activities on water quality, compliance with water quality guidelines, and implications for water quality management.
