Book Description
Fiercely moving, the two long narrative poems of Martín & Meditations on the South Valley revolve around the semi-autobiographical figure of Martin, a mestizo or "detribalized Apache." Fiercely moving, the two long narrative poems of Martín & Meditations on the South Valley revolve around the semi-autobiographical figure of Martin, a mestizo or "detribalized Apache." Abandoned as a child and a long time on the hard path to building his own family, Martin at last finds his home in the stubborn and beautiful world of the barrio. Jimmy Santiago Baca "writes with unconcealed passion," Denise Levertov states in her introduction, “but he is far from being a naive realist; what makes his writing so exciting to me is the way in which it manifests both an intense lyricism and that transformative vision which perceives the mythic and archetypal significance of life-events."

Book Description
This book is the result of dreams and parables that the Lord started giving me when I rededicated my life to him at age twenty-three. I call these stories jewels that I collected along the way of my pilgrimage. Most of them I collected in the valleys of my life. The stories deal with many different issues such as the sinful nature, grace versus legalism, post-traumatic stress, codependency relationships, and more.It wasn't until I was forty years old that my mother advised me to write the stories down. She said that even if I didn't do anything with them, I had to write them down so I wouldn't forget them. I did attend one formal English class in a community college in 2007. Outside of that, I have had no formal training in writing. In 2017, when I decided to put the stories into a book, I told my brother I had to go to school to learn how to write. His response was that college can only teach you the mechanics of writing but that it cannot give you the inspiration. With that advice, I wrote this book, along with my brother Tom, who helped me with the mechanics of writing. These stories have encouraged me, brought me hope, inspired me, and helped me to continue on my path to Zion, and it's my hope that these stories will do the same for you.

Book Description
Far from being an engaging fable, the account of Job in the bible is one of the most historically and scientifically accurate records of the ancient world. Perhaps the oldest book in the Bible, the book of Job touches on many subjects of science and history. This commentary on the controversial Book of Job is very different from most of the seminary and church teachings so prevalent today, for it attests to the historicity of a man named Job who understood at the end of his life that God cannot be ?figured out,? but He can most certainly be trusted.
