L’évolution technologique des matériaux, a permis au Laser, mot d’origine anglo saxone qui signifie amplification de lumière par émission stimulée de radiations, d’accroître leur potentiel thérapeutique dans de nombreux domaines de la dentisterie. Le but de notre travail a été d’analyser les applications actuelles des lasers en endodontie, et plus particulièrement les précautions d’utilisation du laser Nd : YAP. Après avoir rappelé les propriétés physiques du laser, ainsi que les différents types de lasers existants, nous avons réalisé une revue de littérature des différentes études portant sur l’utilisation des lasers en endodontie et du laser Nd : YAP en particulier. La dernière partie de notre étude, réalisée in vitro, porte sur les conséquences de l’élévation thermique sur les tissus parodontaux suite à un traitement au laser Nd : YAP.
