Book Description
You probably take yourself for granted, seldom stopping to consider your own singular magnificence; and you yearn to be happy-the pervasive quality of being content, of feeling calm and relaxed, sometimes even joyful . what you would call a state of mind. Yet you already have all the necessary gear: you are a three-in-one package of a mind to choose, a body to do and a natural desire to have. Everything in your life is a fluent and clear expression of your mind, for your mental energies are the sole authority, working ceaselessly to bring into form-to embody or materialize-that which you have accepted as the truth at the very deepest levels. There can be nothing outside your mind, for you experience the whole caboodle as your mind. As such, you are a potent force, for your universe is the universe. The grand aim of Universal Mighty Mind is to entice you to ponder and reflect so as to create an attitude of appreciation and awe for that unique system of dynamic energies you will proudly call I. Bolstered by newfound practical understanding and valuable insight, your life must inevitably become ever richer.

Time and Soul
Author: Johannes Zachhuber
Publisher: Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG
ISBN: 3110692759
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 108
Book Description
Can time exist independently of consciousness? In antiquity this question was often framed as an enquiry into the relationship of time and soul. Aristotle cautiously suggested that time could not exist without a soul that is counting it. This proposal was controversially debated among his commentators. The present book offers an account of this debate beginning from Aristotle’s own statement of the problem in Book IV of the Physics. Subsequent chapters discuss Aristotle’s Peripatetic followers, Boethus of Sidon and Alexander of Aphrodisias; his Neoplatonic readers, Plotinus and Simplicius; and early Christian authors, Gregory of Nyssa and Augustine. At the centre of the debate stood the relation between the subjective time in the soul and the objective time of the cosmos. Both could be seen as united in the world soul as the seat of subjective time on a cosmic scale. But no solution to the problem was final. No theory gained general acceptance. The book shows the fascinating variety and plurality of ideas about time and soul throughout antiquity. Throughout antiquity, the problem of time and soul remained as intriguing as it proved intractable.
