Book Description
The lives of African American gay men have greatly gone unnoticed in the American consciousness. Despite the fact that Black gay men have made great contributions to our global society. For example, James Baldwin served as a literature giant. Bayard Rustin was one of the key organizers of the 1963 March on Washington. Alphonso David is the first person of color to lead the HRC (Human Rights Campaign). The purpose of this book is to discuss the narratives of Black gay men. There is no doubt that American history has done a nonexistent job of portraying the lives of these Black gay men. Most of these lives have been relegated to the background of society. This book purposes to change that narrative by having 10 to 12 gentlemen discuss their background and how it brought them to where they are in life now. The goal of this book is to also discuss the victory for each of the authors. Praise for Unheard Voices: A Collection of Narratives by Black, Gay & Bisexual Men "Open and transparent discussion about the lives and important contributions of African American gay men is long overdue. Rarely are marginalized people from any walk of life afforded the well-deserved positive attention from mainstream media outside of sports and pop entertainment culture. It has always been important for us to represent ourselves in this regard rather than wait for somnambulant media professionals to wake up and properly embark upon inclusionary coverage of positive images reflected by non-dominant members of society. Unheard Voices: A Collection of Narratives by black gay and bi-sexual men is an essential literary commentary that does exactly that. I will definitely use it as an important reference in my work as an LGBTQ activist." Sheila Fay Waters, Ph.D. Social Psychologist "Unheard Voices establishes a distinctive position, providing a testament to the lived experiences of a group that have become further marginalized, and stigmatized in academia, as well as in the black community. It is a piece of work that boldly, and unapologetically provides a glimpse into a culture, that is hidden, which doesn’t fit the stereotypical narrative of the black male experience in America. Those seeking to gain insight and understanding, as well as direction to navigate challenges faced by black men, this is a must read. By incorporating this piece of work into both academic and social circles, as added value, can elevate and transcend barriers, so those from such marginalized groups, will have a seat at the table. This collection of stories provides wisdom, and a narrative of overcoming some of the darkest obstacles faced by black men from the LGBTQIA community." Carl Featherston MA.Ed, Ed.S Scholarly-Practitioner "Unheard Voices is arguably one of the most open and pure writings from individuals who have navigated life as Black, Gay or Bisexual men. While we have always been present our presence hasn’t always been valued. Our contributions to society are undeniable but we could only be viewed through a lens that made others comfortable. Today, these exceptional men, in their own voices, share their stories which, I hope, will serve as source of enlightenment and encouragement to everyone! This is a must read regardless of your age, gender, sexual preference or race. You will indeed be better informed!" Pedro W. Douglas, Ed.D. Retired University Administrator

Book Description
When Gaby disappears from her Scottish home, it is assumed that her Pakistani father, Farhan, has kidnapped her. The spiralling headlines are only momentarily silenced when it emerges that Gaby may have fled of her own accord, choosing to spend her life in Pakistan. To the distress of her Scottish mother, Suzy, Gaby declares, “My name is Ghazala”, turning her back on "Gaby" and, seemingly, the West. This moving verbatim play reveals a cross-cultural love story that began in late-seventies Glasgow, a world away from the frantic "tug of love" well documented in the world's press. A captivating new play about love, family and ever-shifting identities, My Name Is . . . tells the story behind an event that fleetingly hit headlines in 2006 and continues to resonate throughout the UK and beyond. It was first produced by Tamasha at the Arcola Theatre, London, on 30 April 2014, before the production transferred to the Tron Theatre, Glasgow, on 29 May 2014.

The Unheard Voice of God
Author: Lee Roy Martin
Publisher: BRILL
ISBN: 9004397094
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 303
Book Description
With the wealth of colorful characters described in the book of Judges, scholars and general readers alike have a strong fascination for Israel’s leaders in its earliest days. Theologians and biblical scholars from Luther on have found it difficult to relate to these figures. From a Pentecostal point of view, in particular, those characters can sometimes be an embarrassment, as their personal lives appear to be in stark tension with the purity-conscious, holy life to be expected of those touched by the Spirit of God. Apart from the moments of power, where is God in the lives of these characters? As the title suggests, it is time to listen and learn from God’s role and perspective in these stories, who in faithfulness to his covenant acts with constant patience to save his flawed servants. Through a fresh hearing of The Unheard Voice of God the positive message of the book of Judges can become more apparent and accessible. Readers are shown a crucial part of the book’s dynamics which they may have missed.

Book Description
In this third book of poetry, I tried to implement my creative writing side to capture the view of how the world should be as a justified, respected place. By any means, I am not a prophet; I am not predicting the future. I hope as people are reading this book, they can change their views on life, and try to make a difference in this world. I want to give my readers the tools to fuel their minds to not only improve their self-knowledge, but to also help educate the people around them to do an act of kindness. The main goals in my poems are to instill true values, honest morals, and pure integrities to all people. I could only wish that my words can create a positive movement which can impact the world like the Hip-Hop Movement.

The Governance of Genetic Information
Author: Heather Widdows
Publisher: Cambridge University Press
ISBN: 1139479644
Category : Law
Languages : en
Pages : 249
Book Description
This volume maps the areas of ethical concern in the debate regarding the governance of genetic information, and suggests alternative ethical frameworks and models of regulation in order to inform its restructuring. Genetic governance is at the heart of medical and scientific developments, and is connected to global exploitation, issues of commodification, commercialisation and ownership, the concepts of property and intellectual property and concerns about individual and communal identity. Thus the decisions that are made in the next few years about appropriate models of genetic governance will have knock-on effects for other areas of governance. In short the final answer to 'Who Decides?' in the context of genetic governance will fundamentally shape the ethical constructs of individuals and their networks and relationships in the public sphere.
