Book Description
Jonah wishes he could get the girl, but he’s an outcast and she’s the most perfect girl he knows. And their futures seemed destined to fork apart: Jonah’s physical condition is debilitating, and epileptic seizures fill his life with frustration. Whereas Stormi is seemingly carefree, and navigates life by sensing things before they happen. And her most recent premonition is urging her to leave town. When Stormi begs Jonah for help, he finds himself swept into a dark mystery his small town has been keeping for years. And the answers Stormi needs about her own past could possibly destroy everything Jonah has ever known—including his growing relationship with Stormi herself. Advance praise: “Friesen's story unfolds with so much intrigue, swells with so much heart, I had to keep reading. And the writing? Beautiful!” —Jay Asher, author of the #1 New York Times bestselling novel Thirteen Reasons Why “As someone with Tourette Syndrome, I grew up with a condition that others did not understand. It affected the way I was viewed and the way I viewed myself. I applaud Jonathan Friesen for telling a story about overcoming such a challenge in Unfolding. Hopefully, this will inspire others growing up with such conditions as well as help everyone else better understand what is involved.” —Tim Howard, former US national team goaltender and current goalkeeper for the Colorado Rapids

Book Description
First published in 1987. In Unfolding Meaning, the author, one of the most provocative and original thinkers of our time, argues that there are other ways of thinking to bring about a different, more harmonious reality. Our fragmented, mechanistic notion of order derives from the modem conception that our earth is only part, not - as it was with the Greeks - the centre, of the immense universe of material bodies. The implications of this idea permeate modem science and technology today and also our general attitude to life.

Book Description
Unfolding Nature: Being in the Implicate Order, is a journey through the scientific and philosophical strands of a realm that transcends our everyday awareness, yet paradoxically gives rise to it at the same time. The implicate order, as a hypothesis, resolves many difficulties: discontinuous movement in the quantum realm; the famous and vexing wave-particle duality; nonlocality as a coherent phenomenon; it gives us a general architecture of matter, and how it is tied to mind; explains biological phenomena in ways that modern evolutionary theory struggles with; overthrows the whole paradigm of mechanism; and finds a fundamental place for consciousness as a real, objective and necessary feature of reality. Weaving through these and many other phenomena, James A. Heffernan takes us on a tour of the very deepest layers and the very farthest reaches of our reality. Once your eyes open, they will never close again.

Book Description
This is the first book on the subject of the periodic unfolding method (originally called "éclatement périodique" in French), which was originally developed to clarify and simplify many questions arising in the homogenization of PDE's. It has since led to the solution of some open problems. Written by the three mathematicians who developed the method, the book presents both the theory as well as numerous examples of applications for partial differential problems with rapidly oscillating coefficients: in fixed domains (Part I), in periodically perforated domains (Part II), and in domains with small holes generating a strange term (Part IV). The method applies to the case of multiple microscopic scales (with finitely many distinct scales) which is connected to partial unfolding (also useful for evolution problems). This is discussed in the framework of oscillating boundaries (Part III). A detailed example of its application to linear elasticity is presented in the case of thin elastic plates (Part V). Lastly, a complete determination of correctors for the model problem in Part I is obtained (Part VI). This book can be used as a graduate textbook to introduce the theory of homogenization of partial differential problems, and is also a must for researchers interested in this field.
