Book Description
Trumpets in the Mountains is a compelling ethnography about Cuban culture, artistic performance, and the shift in national identity after 1990, when the loss of Soviet subsidies plunged Cuba into a severe economic crisis. The state's response involved opening the economy to foreign capital and tourism, and promoting previously deprecated cultural practices as quintessentially Cuban. Such contradictions of Cuba's revolutionary ideals elicited an official preoccupation with how twenty-first-century cubanía, or Cubanness, was to be understood by its citizens and creatively interpreted by its artists. The rural campesino was re-envisioned as a key symbol of the future; the embodiment of socialist humility, cultural pureness, and educated refinement; potentially the Hombre Novísimo (even newer man) to replace the Hombre Nuevo (new man) of Cuban communist philosophy. Campesinos inhabit some of the island's most isolated areas, including the mountainous regions in central and eastern Cuba where Laurie A. Frederik conducted research among rural communities and professional theater groups. Analyzing the ongoing dialogue of cultural officials, urban and rural artists, and campesinos, Frederik provides an on-the-ground account of how visions of the nation are developed, manipulated, dramatized, and maintained in public consciousness. She shows that cubanía is defined, and redefined, in the interactive movement between intellectual, political, and everyday worlds.

Book Description
Christians are so much more than religious zealots of words written on the pages of a book! We are in covenant with the Most High God; kingdom kids entitled to a rich and rewarding lifestyle. God's kingdom is at hand, but we need to appropriate it by faith each day. Part and parcel of kingdom living is recognition of our privilege to praise God Jehovah with our prayers, our daily speech patterns and our actions. Romans 10: 9-10 invites us to be transformed by the renewing of our mind. As our mind is renewed so will be our mouth. As our mouths are renewed so will be our relationships! Within the pages of this book we'll learn to replace the trumpets of Old Testament days, announcing the presence of God, the power of God, and God's purposes to a dying world. Once you've read this book and digested the body of evidence herein, you'll begin to see yourself as a trumpeter of God's Word! The atmosphere surrounding your relationships will change radically, as victory becomes your daily portion.

Book Description
THE FINAL & ULTIMATE DAYS ON EARTH 2020 I have spent the last 32 years of my life as a student of Biblical prophecies and as an end time watchman of the Lords land of America. The time has come for the house of Israel, to depart from the land of Babylon America. The span of 390 years, as laid down by the Lord from 1620 was over (Eze. 4:9). After the Second World War, immigrants came to heal American financial woes, but her financial health has not healed. The prophesied 390 years was over in 2010; the house of Israeli Americans and immigrants must prepare themselves for their Exodus from the land of America (Jer. 51:9), which is leading for desolation on March 14, 2017. This inevitable downfall will be triggered by the Ballistic Nuclear missiles deployed by the whole world falling on the land of America (Jer. 51:49). I dare to attempt to write something of this magnitude and I am supremely confident that what I am writing is what is written as the Lords prophecy. The time line schedule and the Dates concerning the Final and Ultimate days on Earth 2020 are those the Lord revealed to me and as written in the scriptures. I strongly encourage every one of you to read every word of the Lord written in this book and you have nothing to lose but everything to gain. I have never been more confident of anything in my entire life. The evidence presented in the scripture, that mighty nation America would be born in the second wilderness 392 years ago (Jer. 5:15; Hos. 2:14), and the sudden 9/11 jet engines of war by the terrorists against the World Trade center and the Pentagon (Ez. 26:9/11), and the sudden destruction are extremely compelling on America!!! You must read His every word and rescue as many American citizens and immigrants as possible from the Lords land of America (Hos. 9:3; Deut. 26:68). According to the written words of the LORD Almighty in the Bible, The TRUMP from TYRUS will easily win the 2012 American Presidential election. There will be no election in 2016. Why? Both the Trump and the Trumpet will play significant roles in the incursion of THE WRATH. Please read all about these and more in this book.

Book Description
Throughout the longue dureé of Western culture, how have people represented mountains as landscapes of the imagination and as places of real experience? In what ways has human understanding of mountains changed – or stayed the same? Mountain Dialogues from Antiquity to Modernity opens up a new conversation between ancient and modern engagements with mountains. It highlights the ongoing relevance of ancient understandings of mountain environments to the postclassical and present-day world, while also suggesting ways in which modern approaches to landscape can generate new questions about premodern responses. It brings together experts from across many different disciplines and periods, offering case studies on topics ranging from classical Greek drama to Renaissance art, and from early modern natural philosophy to nineteenth-century travel writing. Throughout, essays engage with key themes of temporality, knowledge, identity, and experience in the mountain landscape. As a whole, the volume suggests that modern responses to mountains participate in rhetorical and experiential patterns that stretch right back to the ancient Mediterranean. It also makes the case for collaborative, cross-period research as a route both for understanding human relations with the natural world in the past, and informing them in the present.

Book Description
Humanity has blown horns and trumpets of various makes and models, lengths and diameters since prehistoric times. In Horns and Trumpets of the World, the eminent scholar Jeremy Montagu surveys the vast range in time and type of this instrument that has accompanied everything in human history from the war cry to the formal symphony, from the hunting call to the modern jazz performance. No work on this topic offers as much detail or so many illustrations—over 150, in fact—of this remarkable instrument. Montagu’s examination starts with horns constructed from such unusual materials as seaweed, cane, and bamboo, and continues the journey of exploration through those of shell, wood, ivory, and metal. The chronological scope of Horns and Trumpets of the World is equally vast: it looks at instruments of the Bible and from the Bronze and Iron Ages respectively before diving headlong into those from the Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, and Classical periods, and, following the Industrial Revolution, those that have appeared in the modern era. Drawing on the many instruments from the author’s own extensive collection, Montagu offers details, including measurements, at levels rarely seen in other surveys of this world of instrumentation. Horns and Trumpet of the World should appeal to not only scholars and collectors, but professional brass players and manufacturers, as well as museums and institutions with a vested interest in our musical heritage.
