Book Description
Mani, a Canadian librarian, tells of how, many years ago, the people of Atlantis were forced to leave the earth to establish a colony in space to escape annihilation. They eventually settled on the isolated planet of Sasgorg. After several millennia of peace, the Evil Queen took control and destroyed the balance between good and evil. Fifty years under her rule has passed, and the very survival of the last of the descendants of Atlantis is threatened. Their destiny rests on the unknowing shoulders of Tinay, a young Atlantean. She must undergo the traditional rite of passage to become an apprentice artisan while unwittingly being trained to become a warrior. Tinays destiny is to overthrow the Evil Queen and restore to her people, but is a fourteen-year-old up to the task?

Book Description
Tinay is leaving her old life behind along with her family to start her apprenticeship on Os, a water planet. Alone, entering society for the first time, she is confronted with inequality, poverty, violence and must rely on her values, inner strength to try to do what is right. But she questions her parents' decision to make her a member of the artist caste. She ends up discovering her values do not match those of the queen. She decides that someone must voice out the injustice and speak up. Without thinking of the implications, she, time and again, will jeopardize her safety and those around her to defy the edicts and bring a semblance of what is right back into the world. But when the opportunity to crash in on a ball and openly speak against the queen and her rule, all the while avoiding capture form the imperial guards, comes, Tinay must decide if she is ready to risk it all to do what is right. After all, the queen has never been known to be lenient or forgiving, and now with torture into play, it is no longer child's play. Book Description
At Hog Wallow Middle School, May Ellen Bird was always slightly invisible. Then she went on a long trip to the land of the dead, where ghost towns glowed blue in the dark dusk and spooky specters dwelled in cities on the Dead Sea. Back on Earth at last, May and her hairless cat, Somber Kitty, are now famous, their faces plastered across souvenirs and sportswear that read "May Bird Went to the Land of the Dead and All She Brought Me Was This Lousy T-Shirt." But, finally in the spotlight, May feels more than ever that she doesn't belong. Every night she sits by her bedroom window, gazing at the sky and dreaming of another place, wishing -- despite herself -- to be back among the ghosts. And then one night she gets her heart's desire in a way she would never have wished for. Only the Ever After isn't anything like the world May left behind three years ago. The spirits have vanished, and the towns -- once full of every manner of things that go bump in the night -- are deserted. Evil Bo Cleevil has made the Ever After as cold as his own frigid soul, and put up a bunch of tacky malls to boot. Now, with her friends missing and enemies all around her, May must find her way to the edge of the universe, where night swallows the stars, where allies are few and often have bad breath, where endings can also be beginnings, and where the truest hero lurks in the unlikeliest of souls. But Bo Cleevil's got one last trick up his sleeve -- one that no one on Earth is ready for. With the worlds of the living and the dead in the balance, will May's courage fail her one last time? Or will she finally become the warrior she was always meant to be?

Book Description
"Aziza the Warrior Princess is one book I wish I read as a child." - Mary L. "The storybook is a blend of Western and African cultures. I love it!" - Alex V. While some people said that princess Aziza's strength was from Kalakuta, the god of war, others said her powers were rooted in her dark skin. Princess Aziza's strength was the product of determination. Every night, she trained tirelessly with her closest servant, Mustafa, in the art of war. Until her father took her training sessions to the next level. Little did she know that her last fight with her beloved trainer, Azaka, would determine if she kept her crown. The book features and celebrates cultures from some of the greatest kingdoms in Africa. From cultural elements like the rich Kente fabric of Ghana to the royal Oba attire from the Benin kingdom in Nigeria, it is a great way for African kids to stay connected to their roots. Kids from other cultures will enjoy the uniqueness of the African fairytale.
