Book Description
Recovering the Biblical Model Jesus promised to build His church and even the gates of hell will not prevail against it. He never intended that we should be the builders but He does use us. There are many discouraged pastors and leaders. The world has neither serious regard nor understanding of what the local church is to be. This book is an attempt to share some of the lessons and discoveries from forty-five years of pastoral ministry. My heart's desire is to encourage small and medium size church pastors and leaders who are tempted to feel insignificant in face of the awesome challenge. Most understand the purposes of the local churches. Programs for the churches abound. The key element, and central to this book, are these principles of church life in the New Testament. 1. Headship 2. Fellowship 3. Interaction 4. Integration 5. Gifts of the Spirit 6. Discipline 7. Commitment Donald Burnett entered the pastoral ministry as a student with two Methodist churches in 1960 at the age of twenty-two. He served several Methodist churches in Kentucky and South Carolina. He and his wife Loretta moved to Columbia SC in 1972 to plant a new non-denominational church. They continued at St. Andrews Evangelical for thirty-three years before retiring in 2005. They have two children, Don Jr. who is now pastor of St. Andrews, and Becky who is a church-planting missionary with TEAM in Italy. Burnett has been an adjunct professor at Columbia International University, SC state president of NAE, led weekly Bible studies in the governor's office for seven years and was presented the Order of the Palmetto from the governor.

The Timeless Age of God
Author: Russell Redden
Publisher: Russell Redden
ISBN: 1440407487
Category : God (Christianity)
Languages : en
Pages : 388
Book Description
A doctrine once common in Apostolic times unlocks the meaning of many Bible passages. Ancient Jews, Christians, Gnostics, and Greek philosophers, believed that heaven is an unchanging place of timelessness-the first dimension where creation began, and will return at the end of time. This book catalogs evidence of this theology throughout the Bible, and numerous ancient texts. Unknown to the majority of Christians, the theology of two aeons is central to many Bible passages, many of them related to the ascension of Christ. The Son of Man ascended into the unchanging Spirit of God the Father, who lives in heaven outside of time and space. This knowledge was revealed to ancient Israel, a testimony of Christ's priesthood many years before He walked the earth.

Absolute Surrender (Sea Harp Timeless series)
Author: Andrew Murray
Publisher: Destiny Image Publishers
ISBN: 0768471583
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 119
Book Description
"Are you willing to surrender yourselves absolutely into His hands?" Absolute surrender is the goal of the faithful Christ follower—to live a life grafted into the very heart of God—but this pursuit is entirely counterintuitive to human nature and the innate longing for absolute control. Therefore, the journey towards surrender is often marked by struggle, shortcomings, and failure. What is the secret, then, to true surrender? In Absolute Surrender, Andrew Murray provides a practical path towards complete surrender to the way and the will of Jesus. This path leads to a life of self-sacrifice and humility—yes—but even more so, to a life of freedom and abundance, marked by the abiding presence of the Holy Spirit, and therefore to a life of goodness, kindness, patience, peace, joy, and love. Much of Andrew Murray's (1828-1917) published writing was an extension of his work as a pastor in South Africa, and his dozens of books and pamphlets reflect his unshakable desire to draw people into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ. In these pages, Murray speaks from experience, as a man who wrestled with how to abandon himself to God’s will, who repeatedly gave his life for the sake of the Church, and who came face-to-face with God’s wondrous and boundless love through this very pursuit of absolute surrender. In this this collection of short addresses, Andrew Murray reminds the believer that the humble and powerful act of surrendering one’s life wholly to God releases: Power Provision Protection Transformation Miracles Intimacy with God Freedom Abundant life Absolute surrender is not impossible. In fact, it is the very aspiration that carries the power to fulfill the freedom, abundance, and intimacy that God promises to those who follow Him. Absolute Surrender will light the way. The question is not, “Is it possible?” The question is, “Are you willing?”
