Book Description
Mel P. Dread Private Eye Investigation Division Matter regarding: one ton of priceless missing gold coins. My early investigations led me to find three gold coins. The coins had been buried deep underground along with the first clues that could dramatically change my life forever. My quest to find the priceless coins led me and my new friend, Bonnie Lou Starr, to Des Moines, Iowa. In search for more clues, we visited the famous Des Moines Christian Cathedral Church and homeless shelter, where the two of us spent five nights, eating, sleeping, and pretending to be homeless. Des Moines is where my great-grandfather Melvin Porter Dread was buried. His grave was where I dug up more clues, which led me to believe I could become one of the richest twelve-year-old kids in the entire world if I found that priceless lost gold! Soon after we returned home, a story of two twelve-year-old kids from Nebraska was all over the national and local TV news. Could that be it? Maybe this case needed to be stamped closed? Then I started connecting the missing pieces in this Dread family mystery with all those clues that could only lead to one remaining question: just where did my great-grandfather hide the gold? I now have a good idea where it might have been hidden: in the very church the Dread family had built back in 1906. It is the same church my father, who believes that God does love the poor as much as the rich, still preaches in every Sunday. I know you are anxious to see how this mystery will turn out. I still believe there could be a fortune of gold coins hidden somewhere, and I have been busy doing every possible thing I can do to find them, I assure you. As luck would have it, I am unfortunately trapped and in a great amount of pain. As I lie here trying to make it through the night, I know however this story turns out, at twelve, I am too young to die this rich! Sincerely Mel P. Dread Does God love the rich more than he does the poor? At this tales end you will have laughed, you will have cried, and most of all you will have felt the joy that a good story can provide ones soul. In the end we might reach the conclusion that the meaning of love is as simple as we each choose to make it!

Chronicle of the Third Crusade
Author: Helen Nicholson
Publisher: Routledge
ISBN: 0429514735
Category : History
Languages : en
Pages : 354
Book Description
Published in 1997, this is a translation of the Intnerarium Peregrinorum et Gesta Regis Ricardi, 'The Itenerary of the Pilgrims and the deeds of King Richard,’ based on the edition produced in 1864 by William Stubbs as volume 1 of his chronicles and memorials of the reign of King Richard I. This Chronicle is the most comprehensive and complete account of the Third Crusade, covering virtually all the events of the crusade in roughly chronological order, and adding priceless details such as descriptions of King Richard the Lionhearts personel appearance, shipping, French fashions and discussion of the international conventions of war. It is of great interest to medieval historians in general, not only historians of the crusade. The translation is accompanied by an introduction and exhaustive notes which explain the manuscript tradition and the sources of the text and which compare this chronicle with the works of other contemporary writers on the crusade, Christian and Muslim. The translation has been produced specifically for university students taking courses on the Crusades, but it will appeal to anyone with an interest in the Third Crusade and the history of the Middle Ages.

Richard III in the North
Author: M. J. Trow
Publisher: Pen and Sword History
ISBN: 1526777185
Category : Biography & Autobiography
Languages : en
Pages : 298
Book Description
This enlightening biography examines the life and short reign of England’s most controversial king and his relationship to the region he loved. Was Richard III the world’s most wicked uncle, or is he merely the victim of historical slander? Forever associated with the murder of his nephews, he was the last king to die in battle, in 1485. His life was as spectacular as the discovery of his bones under a Leicester car park five centuries later—an event that revived age-old debates. This detailed look at Richard’s life focuses on the area that he loved and made his own. As Lord of the North, he had castles at Middleham and Sheriff Hutton, Penrith, and Sandal. He fought the Scots along the northern border and on their own territory. His son was born at Middleham and was invested as Prince of Wales at York Minster, where Richard planned to set up a college of 100 priests. His white boar device can be found in obscure corners of churches and castles; his laws gave rights to his loyal subjects north of the Trent. And when he felt threatened during the Wars of the Roses, it was to the men of the North that he turned for support and advice. M.J. Trow’s biography demonstrates that the North is the key to understanding this fascinating and complex king.
