Book Description
Ingrid Torfudottir lives a double life. Half she spends in Runde, a normal town on the North Shore of Lake Superior in modern day Minnesota. The other half she spends in Villmark, a village that exists outside of time, where descendants of Vikings still live following the old ways. On top of all that, she personally descends from a long line of volvas, women trained in the magical arts. Only she missed out on everything when she grew up away from Villmark. Now she still struggles to catch up. After months of hard work, she speaks the language of Villmark. Her mastery of the runes sits at nearly a third complete. But now she must face her greatest challenge yet: the woman she narrowly defeated once before, who waits for their face-to-face confrontation deep inside the caves behind the waterfall that separates Runde from Villmark. No one thinks she is ready for this rematch. Not her friends. Not her mentor. Not even her own grandmother. No one but Ingrid. Sacrifice Behind the Falls is book 9 in the ongoing Viking Witch Cozy Mystery series!

Book Description
This exquisite collection of short fiction by Sata Ineko (1904–1998) offers readers a fascinating glimpse into the lives of women rarely dignified in fiction: glamorous café waitresses, feisty communist activists, a tortured novelist, a soldier’s wife, and single women in Japan’s Korean colony. Her delicately penned portraits challenge the tired, erotic tropes of the geisha and schoolgirl, while delving into the dilemmas women themselves faced in their personal and professional relationships. The stories and novella translated here span a period of two decades and the most important events and themes in twentieth-century history. “Café Kyoto” (1929) takes up the glamorous, if tragic, lives of café waitresses in the wake of the late 1920s Depression. “Tears of a Factory Girl in the Union Leadership” (1931) offers a unique portrait of a woman who works with the underground Communist Party. “The Scent of Incense” (1942), written as a work of “home front” literature, was meant to help mobilize women as productive workers and supportive housewives during World War II. “White and Purple” (1950), one of Sata’s rare postcolonial works penned just after the outbreak of the Korean War, reflects on the psychological damage inflicted on women during Japan’s occupation of Korea. Sata’s first novella, Crimson (1936–1938), joins a long tradition of women’s writing in Japan that sought to assert women’s “liberation” from what was seen as the oppressively patriarchal institution of marriage. Translator Samuel Perry’s critical introduction weaves the story of Sata’s life into an examination of the historical and cultural milieu that helped to generate her stories about working women, their lives in the workplace and in the home. As the celebrated author herself once wrote, “The kinds of womanhood available today exist precisely because literary masters of different ages and cultures have drawn us to them: the woman we pity, the woman with a heart of gold, the cruel woman, the clever woman, the hen-pecker, the cheapskate, and the ‘good wife wise mother.’ As terms we use to describe the kinds of women who exist in the world today, they have simply outgrown their usefulness.”

Book Description
Shakespeare / Sex interrogates the relationship between Shakespeare and sex by challenging readers to consider Shakespeare's texts in light of the most recent theoretical approaches to gender and sexuality studies. It takes as its premise that gender and sexuality studies are key to any interpretation of Shakespeare, be it his texts and their historical contexts, contemporary stage and cinematic productions, or adaptations from the Restoration to the present day. Approaching 'sex' from four main perspectives – heterosexuality, third-wave intersectional feminism, queer studies and trans studies – this book tackles a range of key topics, such as medical science, rape culture, the environment, disability, religion, childhood sexuality, race, homoeroticism and trans bodies. The 12 essays range across Shakespeare's poems and plays, including the Sonnets and The Rape of Lucrece, Coriolanus, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Measure for Measure, Richard III and The Two Noble Kinsmen. Encouraged to push the envelope, contributors to this essay collection open new avenues of inquiry for the study of gender and sexuality in Shakespeare.

Book Description
INTRODUCTION My Mindd Eye, fantasy is McCoys first book of short stories with adult content. She specifies that this book is not for kids but for adults; of the age of consent who dont want something to learn, but as an escape from reality for a short period of time. In that light it is secondly dedicated to: her friends and acquaintances in Fantasy Role-play for their ideas and laughter at her muse; for taking the time to read a story or two of hers in helping her to decide to complete the book. Thank You my friends for your time, trouble and thoughts on my writing. I can only hope I have done all of you proud. "Aye lad, The Sea has been my mistress some 40 years now. Stories? Yes, there are stories to be told pull up a chair and Ill tell them to you."

Book Description
Bhabani Bhatacharya Is Unquestionably One Of The Celebrated Indo English Fiction Writers. Notwithstanding His Rather Scanty Literary Output, He Has Caught The Fancy Of Quite A Large Reading Public And Academics Both At Home And Abroad. No Wonder, Then, If His Latest Novel, Shadow From Ladakh, Has Won For Him The Much Coveted Sahitya Akademi Award For 1967. Besides, He Is A Much-Translated Indian Novelist Writing In English. His Books Have Been Translated Into Twenty-Six Languages Including Fourteen European Languages. In Spite Of The Global Fame That Has Come To Him Spontaneously, He Has Not Yet Been Explored And Evaluated Thoroughly Well With The Empathy Of A Scholar. Only Two Full Length Studies And A Few Articles In Journals And Books Have Appeared On Him, And These, Too, Are Just An Introduction To His Writings, And Do Not Examine Comprehensively Either The Thematic Or The Technical Side Of His Fiction. Hence The Need And Justification For A Book Such As This. The Present Book Undertakes To Make A Thorough And Objective Study Of Bhabani Bhattacharya S Vision, His Dominant Themes And His Concept Of A Creative Writer S Concern With Social Reality. It Has Been My Sincere Endeavour To Make This Study Really Useful And Interesting For Scholars In General And For University Students In Particular. Since There Is A Paucity Of Critical Works On The Contemporary Indian Novelists Writing In English, The Book, It Is Hoped, Will Surely Help The Reader To Understand, And Develop Genuine Interest In, Bhabani Bhattacharya As Well As The Indo English Fiction Of The Recent Decades.
