Book Description
Two rival kings must unite to defeat a malevolent god in the “wise and humorous” conclusion to the Hugo Award–winning author’s Scepter of Mercy trilogy (Publishers Weekly). When Avornis falls, the Banished One will reign supreme. Rival kings Lanius and Grus each covet solitary power, but realize that a kingdom divided cannot stand against the evil god who enslaves the minds of men through their nightmares. Once, Avornis was safe from his dark influence, protected by a powerful talisman supplied by the pantheon of deities who expunged the immortal called Milvago from their ranks. But that was centuries earlier, before the Scepter of Mercy was lost, and only through its recovery can Avornis survive. Now, Lanius has a daring—most likely impossible—plan, but it requires the cooperation of his fellow ruler, the warrior and usurper king Grus. If they fail to work together they will die together nevertheless, along with everything that is good and right in their world. Hugo Award winner Harry Turtledove brings his Scepter of Mercy trilogy to a spectacular end with a story of courage, conflict, and selfless sacrifice. In The Scepter’s Return, as in the previous books of the series, the acclaimed world-builder reimagines epic fantasy, leaving his own special imprint on the popular genre much as he has done with the alternate history for which he is so justifiably renowned.

Book Description
A plague has ravaged the population of gold dwarves of the Great Rift. It starts slowly, but the progression is devastating. One dwarf has eyes that have become hard and glassy like marbles; a second dwarf has skin that flakes off in sharp, hardened scales; the skeleton of a third is petrified and fused in place; a fourth wastes away with blood that has turned dark and muddy. Clerical magic doesn't help. Neither do herbal remedies, nor spells meant to break curses. And in all cases, death is always the same--the heart blackens, hardens, and eventually stops beating, killing each victim with a heart attack and turning the bodies to stone. It's called the Stoneplague. It's terrifying. And it's spreading.

Book Description
For ten thousand years the seven wizards of the Wizard Council of Eonor had governed and protected the Elven folk of Eonor. As their time was passing and no apprentice was born to pass on their knowledge, the council put all their knowledge and magic into the “White Book of Magic”. It was established that only a true wizard could read from the book. A true wizard was defined as one who is born when a comet is visible during a total eclipse and can read from the book. Gindon, a member of the council could not accept his demise. He sought to increase his power and extend his life. He wrote the “Black Book of Magic” which, advised him to kill the other wizards and take their power as the only solution to becoming immortal. He killed one of the wizards and with a terrible war looming, the Elven folk and the youngest of the Wizard Council left for new land to call home or “Urot”. Gindon was able to kill another wizard and became more powerful. He gave the “Black Book of Magic” to his daughter, Gelda, and sent her with the others, to the new land. Massive fires and explosions were seen as the ship sailed off to their new home. Gelda knew her father had been killed and sought revenge against the Elven-folk. The ships landed on the shore of Urot, the sight of their first city, Windor. Gelda, seeking revenge for her father’s death, conjured a troll that killed several Elves before being slain. Gelda was accused of practicing Black Magic and was banished to the Black Mountains since Elven do not kill Elven. She swore her revenge and cursed them as she left. Gelda learned the ways of Black Magic and conjured more slave creatures to build her fortress castle. As the Elven folk expanded their realm, they discovered humans living in the prairies, forests, and mountains. They were primitive but saw that they were intelligent and gentle. They taught the humans woodworking, metallurgy, reading, and writing. After a time, humans built their own cities and villages. They kept good relations with the Elven folk, and it was not uncommon for humans and Elves to marry. And so, it was with King Marcus Drakorne who married the Elven Princess Errisa and soon their son Ferryman was born when a comet was visible during a total eclipse. The people of Urot wait patiently for a wizard’s apprentice to be declared as Gelda plots their demise.

Book Description
Professor Lutherous Nie is director of the Deity Settlement on the terraformed planetoid Ceres, which orbits Earth as a second moon. He is also an egocentric jerk, obsessed with harvesting the crystalline energy of Ceres as a power source to save the dying Sun. He and other individuals with strong telepathic talents use the unique energy to manipulate the forces of nature. Thus magic, born of science, is brought into the world. Unknown to Nie, there are others intoxicated with the power of crystalline energy who will stop at nothing to possess it all. When the Ceres Project is sabotaged, the planetoid is thrown into another dimension. Nie awakes to a medieval world of magic from which many of Earths myths and fables are derived. Demonized by the gods of Ceres, Nie must learn to see beyond his own selfish needs if he is to ever return home to his wife and daughter. Standing against Nie are the Warriors of Faith, those who fight for the gods of Ceres. Among these are a superhero (of sorts) mentored by Al Capone, a teenage witch from Old Salem, a troubled modern-day Chicago youth, an Aussi rogue, and a band of misfit medieval adventurers including Justa, a 10-year-old wizard prodigy. The warriors are on a collision course with Lutherous Nie and his army of sentient beasts in a race to discover the true source of evil threatening both Ceres and Earth. Ceres: Lutherous Nie and the Warriors of Faith is an epic fantasy combining future technology, modern tribulations and historic/mythic characters in a magical medieval setting. Whether you like Sci-Fi, comedy, romance, or tragedy; wizards, cowboys, astronauts, or contemporary teen angst LNWOF has a little something for everyone and every age.
