Book Description
Howlin’ Wolf was a musical giant in every way. He stood six foot three, weighed almost three hundred pounds, wore size sixteen shoes, and poured out his darkest sorrows onstage in a voice like a raging chainsaw. Half a century after his first hits, his sound still terrifies and inspires. Born Chester Burnett in 1910, the Wolf survived a grim childhood and hardscrabble youth as a sharecropper in Mississippi. He began his career playing and singing with the first Delta blues stars for two decades in perilous juke joints. He was present at the birth of rock ’n’ roll in Memphis, where Sam Phillips–who also discovered Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, and Jerry Lee Lewis–called Wolf his “greatest discovery.” He helped develop the sound of electric blues and vied with rival Muddy Waters for the title of king of Chicago blues. He ended his career performing and recording with the world’s most famous rock stars. His passion for music kept him performing–despite devastating physical problems–right up to his death in 1976. There’s never been a comprehensive biography of the Wolf until now. Moanin’ at Midnight is full of startling information about his mysterious early years, surprising and entertaining stories about his decades at the top, and never-before-seen photographs. It strips away all the myths to reveal–at long last–the real-life triumphs and tragedies of this blues titan.

Book Description
“A swift-paced, fun romp.” –Charlaine Harris, New York Times bestselling author Romance is about to get a little hairy. Sophie Garou seems to have it all: a great job at a prestigious accounting firm, a closet that rivals a Nordstrom showroom, and a terrific boyfriend who isn’t afraid to use the “M” word. There’s just one little itty-bitty problem: Sophie is a werewolf–and her time of month has a whole new meaning. Needless to say, life among yummy flesh-and-blood humans is no piece of steak . . . er, cake!, but regular doses of wolfsbane tea and a mother who runs a magic shop have helped Sophie keep her paranormal pedigree under wraps. Still, when a sexy, golden-eyed werewolf prowls into town, Sophie finds herself struggling to keep her animal impulses in check–not to mention trying to keep things on track with her super hot (and super human) lawyer boyfriend. What’s more, someone is threatening to expose Sophie for what she really is. And when her mother is accused of selling a poison-laced potion, Sophie must sniff out a culprit before the fur hits the fan. DON’T MISS THE NEXT BOOK IN THIS HAIR-RAISING TRILOGY: ON THE PROWL From the Paperback edition.

Talk about a bad-hair day! Sophie Garou is a master at taming her inner beast, which comes in handy since she’s a werewolf. With a big promotion at work and a supersexy boyfriend, Heath (whom she recently spotted leaving a jewelry store with a beguiling ring box), she’s one happy girl. But when Heath starts spending long nights at the office with his new associate–a dead-ringer for Career Day Barbie–Sophie smells trouble. And when her professional relationship with her big new client–who also happens to be Texas’s brilliantly blue-eyed most eligible bachelor–begins to sizzle, she wonders if her animal instincts are leading her in the wrong direction. Just when it seems that things can’t get any more complicated, they do. The Houston werewolf pack has sniffed Sophie out, and their message is chillingly clear: you’re either with us or against us. And unless she can prove that she’s with them, the next full moon may just be her last. From the Paperback edition.

Book Description
Published in 1933, The Werewolf is one of the first comprehensive books on the subject of werewolves. Author Montague Summers offers detailed historical references and local tales about werewolf encounters, attacks, and transformations. As a member of the clergy, he views the legends of werewolves through a spiritual lens, exploring a variety of opinions and schools of thought on the finer points of werewolf transformation and infection. Part of the Loren Coleman Presents series for Cosimo Classics, this book will entertain and inform those curious about werewolves, gothic folklore, and the occult. AUGUSTUS MONTAGUE SUMMERS (1880-1948) was an English author and clergyman known for his interest in the occult, especially vampires, werewolves, and witches. He wrote dozens of books on the occult, poetry, history, and fiction; he was also the translator of the English version of Malleus Maleficarum, the 15th-century witch hunter's guide. Though highly spiritual, Summers did not obtain a higher rank than deacon in the Church of England due to his peculiar interests. He converted to Catholicism in 1909 and began calling himself Reverend, though he never joined a particular order or diocese; whether he was ever actually ordained as a minister is disputed.
