This paper presents a method for calculating the value of travel time (VTT) for the BC Transit bus fleet in the Vancouver Region. VTT measures the time-related, as opposed to distance/usage-related, costs of travel. The distance-related costs for the BC Transit bus fleet are covered in a separate working paper. Five types of buses are analyzed in this paper and values of time travel are provided for vehicles, drivers and bus passengers. VTT for passenger cars and light and heavy commercial vehicles in the Vancouver Region are covered in a companion working paper titled Value of Travel Time for Passenger Cars and Light & Heavy Commercial Vehicles in the Vancouver Region.
