The Non-Hierarchical Way from Yijing to Jeongyeok
Author: Young Woon Ko
Publisher: Rowman & Littlefield
ISBN: 1498573932
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 237
Book Description
The Non-Hierarchical Way from Yijing to Jeongyeok: A New Paradigm for East Meeting West examines the paradoxical structure of Yijing known as the Book of Changes—a structure that promotes in a non-hierarchical way the harmony and transformation of opposites. Because the non-hierarchical model is not limited to the East Asian tradition, it is considered in relation to ideas developed in the West, including Carl Jung’s archetypal psychology, Georg Cantor’s Diagonal Theorem, Rene Girard’s mimetic desire, and Alfred North Whitehead’s process thought. By critically reviewing the numerical and symbolic structures of Yijing, Young Woon Ko introduces Kim Ilbu’s Jeongyeok (the Book of Right Changes) and demonstrates that it intensifies the correlation between opposites to overcome any hierarchical system implied by the Yijing. Both the Yijing and the Jeongyeok are useful textual sources for kindling a discussion about the Divine, which is conceived in Eastern and Western philosophical theological traditions quite differently. While the nontheistic aspects of the Ultimate feature prominently in Yijing, Jeongyeok extends them to a theistic issue by introducing the notion of Sangjae, the Supreme Lord, which can lead to a fruitful dialogue for understanding the dipolar characteristics of the divine reality—personal and impersonal. Ko considers their contrast, which has divided Eastern and Western religious belief systems, to be transformational and open to a wider perspective of the divine conception in the process of change.

The Body
Author: Yasuo Yuasa
Publisher: State University of New York Press
ISBN: 143842468X
Category : Philosophy
Languages : en
Pages : 268
Book Description
This book explores mind-body philosophy from an Asian perspective. It sheds new light on a problem central in modern Western thought. Yuasa shows that Eastern philosophy has generally formulated its view of mind-body unity as an achievement a state to be acquired—rather than as essential or innate. Depending on the individual's own developmental state, the mind-body connection can vary from near dissociation to almost perfect integration. Whereas Western mind-body theories have typically asked what the mind-body is, Yuasa asks how the mind-body relation varies on a spectrum from the psychotic to the yogi, from the debilitated to the athletic, from the awkward novice to the master musician. Yuasa first examines various Asian texts dealing with Buddhist meditation, kundalini yoga, acupuncture, ethics, and epistemology, developing a concept of the "dark consciousness" (not identical with the psychoanalytic unconscious) as a vehicle for explaining their basic view. He shows that the mind-body image found in those texts has a striking correlation to themes in contemporary French phenomenology, Jungian psychoanalysis, psychomatic medicine, and neurophysiology. The book clears the ground for a provocative meeting between East and West, establishing a philosophical region on which science and religion can be mutually illuminating.

The Ultimate Modern Guide to Artificial Intelligence
Author: Enamul Haque
Publisher: Enamul Haque
ISBN:
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 293
Book Description
The era of artificial intelligence has arrived. You, who only felt far from artificial intelligence, and the growing dream trees, are now inseparable from artificial intelligence. What does AI have to do with me? Isn't it a distant future that has nothing to do with me, not a scientist, a technician, or a computer programmer? Well, Artificial intelligence is not a story of someone who has nothing to do with it, but the fact is, it is now everyone's story. AI is already deeply infiltrating everyone's life. The question is no longer whether we use technology or not; it's about working together in a better way. Surrounding technologies like Siri, Alexa, or Cortana are seamlessly integrated into our interactions. We walk into the room, turn on the lights, play songs, change the room temperature, keep track of shopping lists, book a ride at the airport, or remind ourselves to take the proper medication on time. It is now necessary to look at artificial intelligence from a broader and larger perspective. You should not just hang on to complex deep learning algorithms and think only through science and technology but through the eyes of emotions and humanities. These days, elementary school students learn English and coding at school. Tomorrow's elementary school students will learn AI. Of course, not everyone needs to be an AI expert. But if you don't understand AI, you will be left out of the trend of changing times. AI comes before English and coding. This is because artificial intelligence is the language and tool of the future. This book opens your door to the most critical understanding needed of AI and other relevant disruptive technologies. Artificial intelligence will significantly change societal structures and the operations of companies. The next generation of employees needs to be trained as a workforce before entering the job market, and the existing workforce is regularly recharged and skilled. There is plenty on this for reskilling too. This is the most definitive compendium of AI, The Internet of Things, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Data Science, Big Data, Cloud Computing, Neural networks, Robotics, the future of work and the future of intelligent industries.
