Book Description
Excerpt from The Three Dispensations of the Bible In the Bible there are three great divisions, each repro senting what is called a dispensation - the Patriarchah J ew ish, and Christian. God has never had to change, as some suppose, in order to have these different dispensations They, think because Paul said in Hebrews x1-ii., Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and forever, that if God gave. His people a law, and later changed that by giving another, that God has changed. They have the wrong con ception of God 1 They should think of God at the time or before man was made, here God, knowing how man would disobey Him, has in His own mind a scheme of redemption which would take man through three schools of training be fore man is as good as before the transgression. No-, w these schools being arranged already, just as soon as man sins [god puts him in the lower school, and when he has been cultured to the limit of this school, God does not have to change to put him into a higher school, for that had always been His purpose, and when he finishes his training in the Second school God does not have to change to put himhim to the university. This is the Way that God hath dealt with the human family, and when we speak of God taking man out of one school and placing him into a higher, not think that God has changed, but is only accomplishing the one purpose which Hethad in the begmning. The first school or dispensation lasted about twenty-five hundred years - from Adam to the giving of the law on Mount Sfanai (ex, 20th chapter.) During this dispensation books were scarce; in fact, the commandments of the Lord were not written at this time; We have no evidence that any part Of the Bible was written before Moses, which was about twenty-five hundred years after the beginning. So, remem ber, that while we live through this. Dispensation we _have no Bible, and all the commandments we have are oral. We know not just how many commandments God gave to those people, but we will give here all the commandments that were put in the Bible when it was written. We know not how Moses came to know what they were, but God made them known to him in a waybest suited to Himself. Book Description
Excerpt from Lectures on the New Dispensation: Called the New Jerusalem The writings of the New Church are eminently pure and spi ritual. They contain the truths Of the spiritual sense of the Word, such as the angels receive, and are calculated to make men like the angels. They are addressed to us as rational and Spiritual beings. They Open to our view the spiritual world, and unfold the laws Of Spiritual life. And because the truths which are contained in these writings are thus spiritual in their charac ter, they are Often called dark and mystical; for so they appear to those whose minds are imbued with the doctrines Of sensual ism. Spiritual truths must needs appear dark and mystical to persons who have no faith in the reality of a spiritual world, and no love for spiritual things. The charge Of mysticism which is Often brought against these writings, is itself a sufficient oommen tary upon the spiritual state Of those who make it. Unto you (who are the Lord's true, spiritual disciples) it is given to know the mystery Of the kingdom Of God; but unto them that are with out, all things are done in parables. Book Description
The Reverend Clarence Larkin was one of the most widely influential pop theologians of the early twentieth century: his works are the source of many of the "prophecies" and "truths" end-times Christians hold to even today. This stupendous 1918 book-perhaps his greatest work-is the result of more than 30 years' worth of, the author informs us, "careful and patient study of the Prophetic Scriptures."Fully illustrated by charts describing God's plan for humanity, Dispensational Truth covers: Pre-Millennialism the Second Coming of Christ the present evil world the Satanic trinity the world's seven great crises prophetical chronology the threefold nature of man the Book of Revelation five fingers pointing to Christ the False Prophet and much more.American Baptist pastor and author CLARENCE LARKIN (1850-1924) was born in Pennsylvania, and later set up his ministry there. He wrote extensively and popularly on a wide range of Biblical and theological matters.
