Excerpt from The Rail Splitter, Vol. 1: May, 1919 Halting in the mighty march of its millions, the state of Illinois, on Feb. 1910, observed the one hundred and first birthday of Abra ham Lincoln. Probably the largest demonstration of the evening of the birthday of the great emancipator was the First Annual Banquet of the Lincoln League of Illinois, held in the Second Regiment Armory of Chicago, and mustering an assemblage of at_least members and guests.
