In chapter 3, I argue that topicalization and negative fronting, which exhibit the order OV(S), are instances of a focus fronting rule that moves a constituent to SpecSigmaP. By contrast, clitic left-dislocated structures, which may also exhibit the order OV(S), are instances of base-adjunction to SigmaP.
