Everyone knows that you, the man in the street, are a very busy person. You have your own way to make in the world, and in these overcrowded islands it is often a painfully difficult way. How, then, can you be expected to find time to acquire much knowledge of affairs of state in a land six thousand miles away, where conditions are so completely different from those you are accustomed to, as to be almost beyond your imagination? Yet for us in that land comes in this bitter touch of irony. Our fate depends largely on you, the man in the street, who do not know our surroundings, or our conditions of life, or, in fact, anything about us.
