Book Description
What causes a family to decide to leave their familiar surroundings of home and move to a foreign country where they know no language, no customs, no culture, and have no acquaintances among the people of that country? What is it like as a servant of God to live in the midst of a vicious war that erupts anywhere, anytime, without warning? What happens when one faces sudden death three times and experiences the peace of absolute trust in God and total obedience to him? The lessons learned, the shaping of character through the stresses of life, experiencing the process of being molded into a servant of the Lord is what this book is all about. Such experiences are at times painful, yet exhilarating, meaningful and filled with peace and joy because we are in the center of his will. God gives us our being and leads us in our becoming. The greatest peace is when we discover who God wants us to be, and we are engaged in doing what he leads us to do! This is an on-going process.

Book Description
The Making of Servant and Other Poems was first published in the early 1970's when Zithobile Qangule and Walter Saunders were fellow lecturers at the University of South Africa in Pretoria - the spiritual heart of Apartheid but with a growing 'verligte' or 'enlightened' element. One day Zithobile sent him a Xhosa poem he had translated into English for publication in Ophir, a radical independent anti-apartheid poetry magazine, which Saunders co-edited with Peter Horn and Michael Macnamara. The poem was The Making of a Servant by J.J.R. Jolobe. What a stunning poem! Ophir immediately decided to publish it with a selection of other newly-translated Xhosa poems as a small book. Qangule selected six more poems by six other - St J. Page Yako, S.W. Nkuhlu, M.E. Nyoka, Samuel Edward Krune Loliwe Ngxekengxeke Mqhayi, Alfred Zwelinzima Ngani and R.M Tshaka. All the poems Qangule wanted to work on had already been published in Xhosa and some of them translated. But those were the days of apartheid. The publishers included core Afrikaner Nationalist companies, who were making their money producing books for Bantu Education schools. Qangule felt that all the poems were deeply subversive but they had never been translated in English so as to reveal their satire and political commentary. The brief therefore of the translators, Qangule himself and Robert Mshengu Kavanagh, was to translate or re-translate the poems so as to bring this out.

The Making of a Distinctive Church College is a collection of essays that reveal the heart and soul of an institution of higher education in the making. The author, Dalton Reimer, has been a major contributor to this making as a participant-observer from its beginning in 1960 as a church-related liberal arts college, now university. Toward the beginning he contributed to the formation of The Fresno Pacific Idea, which has been the unique, central guide in the development of the institution. Book Description
A work of innovative literary and cultural history, The Servant's Hand examines the representation of servants in nineteenth-century British fiction. Wandering in the margins of these texts that are not about them, servants are visible only as anachronistic appendages to their masters and as functions of traditional narrative form. Yet their persistence, Robbins argues, signals more than the absence of the "ordinary people" they are taken to represent. Robbins's argument offers a new and distinctive approach to the literary analysis of class, while it also bodies forth a revisionist counterpolitics to the realist tradition from Homer to Virginia Woolf. Originally published in 1986 (Columbia University Press), The Servant's Hand is appearing for the first time in paperback.
