Book Description
A sparkling contemporary retelling of Pride and Prejudice set in the tantalizing world of New York City burlesque, perfect for fans of The Kiss Quotient and The Roommate. After a betrayal derailed her interior design career, Liz Bennet found a fresh start in New York. Now an executive assistant by day and stage kitten by night, she’s discovered a second home with the performers at Meryton, Manhattan’s top-tier burlesque venue. Love’s the last thing on her mind when she locks eyes with Will Darcy across the crowded club, yet the spark between them is undeniable—that is, until she overhears the uptight wealth manager call her merely “tolerable.” Bennet is determined to write Darcy off, but once their besties fall head-over-heels, they’re thrown into each other’s orbit again and again. Each encounter begins to feel more heated than the last, but is their chemistry enough to topple that terrible first impression? What’s more, when a charming newcomer arrives on the scene with accusations against Darcy, and a sudden development leaves Meryton’s fate in jeopardy, Bennet will have to decide who to trust in time to salvage her design dreams, her heart, and the stage she shares with her found family…

Semantic Web Technologies and Legal Scholarly Publishing
Author: Silvio Peroni
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3319047779
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 322
Book Description
This work deals with the applications of Semantic Publishing technologies in the legal domain, i.e., the use of Semantic Web technologies to address issues related to the Legal Scholarly Publishing. Research in the field of Law has a long tradition in the application of semantic technologies, such as Semantic Web and Linked Data, to real-world scenarios. This book investigates and proposes solutions for three main issues that Semantic Publishing needs to address within the context of the Legal Scholarly Publishing: the need of tools for linking document text to a formal representation of its meaning; the lack of complete metadata schemas for describing documents according to the publishing vocabulary and the absence of effective tools and user interfaces for easily acting on semantic publishing models and theories. In particular, this work introduces EARMARK, a markup meta language that allows one to create markup documents without the structural and semantic limits imposed by markup languages such as XML. EARMARK is a platform to link the content layer of a document with its intended formal semantics and it can be used with the Semantic Publishing and Referencing (SPAR) Ontologies, another topic in this book. SPAR Ontologies are a collection of formal models providing an upper semantic layer for describing the publishing domain. Using EARMARK as a foundation for SPAR descriptions opens up to a semantic characterisation of all the aspects of a document and of its parts. Finally, four user-friendly tools are introduced: LODE, KC-Viz, Graffoo and Gaffe. They were expressly developed to facilitate the interaction of publishers and domain experts with Semantic Publishing technologies by shielding such users from the underlying formalisms and semantic models of such technologies.

Book Description
Ashley Friedlein's first book, Web Project Management: Delivering Successful Commercial Web Sites, became a bestseller and an essential reference for Web professionals developing new sites. Maintaining and Evolving Successful Commercial Web Sites addresses the realities of successful sites today, namely the notion that maintaining and evolving a site is actually a bigger commitment than launching it. Management wants to maximize returns and obtain reliable performance data, customers demand better service and insist on sites that are more advanced yet easier to use, and the Web site must increasingly be integrated with the entire business even as the amount of information it handles continues to grow.Maintaining and Evolving Successful Commercial Web Sites focuses more on process, reality, and pragmatism and less on strategic theory. It provides the reader with the knowledge, tools, approaches, and processes to manage key site maintenance and evolution projects, providing answers to the following questions:*How can I better manage changes and updates to the Web site?*How can I scale up to allow more contributions to the site and more content and still maintain quality and control?*What is content management and how do I go about it?*How do I go about personalization or community building?*What is Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and how do I actually do it online?*How do I measure and report on how well the site is doing?*How do I avoid information overload?*How do I maximize the value the site creates? The book includes case studies to demonstrate candidly how the issues discussed in the book translate into reality.*Case studies show candidly how the issues discussed translate into reality. *Describes content management & Customer Relationship Management (CRM) how to go about implementing them. *Teaches how to measure & report on how well the site is doing, how to avoid information overload, & how to maximize the value the site creates.

Successful ICT Projects in FrontPage
Author: Robert S. U. Heathcote
Publisher: Payne Gallway
ISBN: 9781903112687
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 214
Book Description
This book is designed to help students on an 'A' Level, Advanced VCE or similar course to design and implement a Web site using Microsoft FrontPage 2002. FrontPage is a suitable software package for the project component in 'AS' level and Advanced VCE courses. Parts 1 to 2 of the book take the reader through the steps in creating and publishing a Web site both with and without the use of a wizard. Part 3 gives advice on all stages of project work from the definition of a suitable problem through to documentation. The book was written primarily for 'AS' and 'A' Level Information and Communication Technology students and contains in Appendix B the AQA mark scheme for 'AS' Module 3: Coursework. It will also be suitable for students on many other courses at different levels since the mark scheme, with minor variations, is one which applies to projects in many ICT courses. For a second year project in an 'A' Level course, data collected from a Web site can be exported and used in an Access database. This aspect could be developed further to fulfil the requirements of, for example, Module 6 of the AQA ICT specification.A sample project is included to show students how a complete project report may be laid out.

Category : Education
Languages : en
Pages : 250
Book Description

Designing and Using Performance Tasks: Enhancing Student Learning and Assessment walks you step-by-step through the process of incorporating performance tasks as a tool to teach, monitor, and extend student learning. This book will help you Make instructional decisions based on student performance of learning tasks Learn all about the different kinds of performance tasks and the benefits of each Incorporate learning progressions as an integral part of planning performance tasks Close the "knowing–doing" gap by focusing on considerations for successful implementation If you’re ready to engage your students in unique and innovative ways, grab a copy of this book to guide you and your students in applying their learning—and your teaching—to real-world situations. "Teaching using performance tasks was, by far, was the most difficult type of teaching strategy for me to learn. When I began my teaching career, not many people were using this strategy, but I was fortunate to have a mentor who understood the process and was willing to teach me, two very rare occurrences in the teaching world. Thank heavens for Tracey Shiel, who has the ability to communicate the process so well and in such a manner that you enjoy reading about it at the same time – another rare event in education! I know from experience, students who learn using this strategy retain the information for longer periods of time giving teachers a stronger base upon which to build." Pamela L.
