As some misapprehension seems to 'exist in regard to my connection with. The publication of the confession of Hicks, to be executed to-morrow for piracy, will you allow me to say a few words in explanation? About a month ago, Hicks expressed a desire to make a full confession of his crimes, particularly of the facts in relation to'the murders on the sloop E. A. J 0hll son, that the same might be published for the benefit of his wife and child, for whom, despite of his cruel nature, he manifests a very warm affection, and he earnestly solicited Marshal Rynders to hear his confession, and superintend its publication.
