Burns and Lambert under the general title of the Popular Library, of which the present writer was, after the issue of the first four volumes, the sole remain ing editor. The present revised and much extended edition was undertaken in response to recommendations which had reached the writer from more than one influential quarter, together with the expression of an earnest desire that the work should not be allowed to fall into Oblivion.
