Colley Cibber was eminent in his pro_ ' fession, and a close observer of the talents of his contemporaries; but when he attempts to givea portrait. of Betterton, he finds himself unequal to the task. The bulk of Garrick's private papers - a vast collection of letters that passed between him and the leading men of his time, are in the possession of my friend, Mr. John Forster.
