Book Description
Beloved television star of Fair Go, Kevin Milne's bestselling memoir is funny, insightful, incisive, moving and all-round entertaining. He talks of his long television career - 40 years - including 25 years of the long-running, top-rating Fair Go. Kevin writes in a relaxed, laconic style that draws the reader in immediately - he's an excellent story-teller and raconteur. He includes many wonderful anecdotes about the well-known people who have been Fair Go reporters over the years, for example Kerre Woodham, Brian Edwards, Carole Hirschfeld, Kim Hill. Plus hilarious tales of the best dodgy dealers, scams and rip-off artists that Fair Go has uncovered over the years. His personal story is told with self-deprecating humour and great honesty - it's the story of a boy who really didn't amount to much at school but who went on to make the most of his talents and become a household name. Kevin writes: 'The Listener magazine wrote, "In an age of glossy packaging, Kevin Milne is a brown paper bag". I think it was meant as a compliment and I'll settle for that. So, welcome to the life and times of a brown paper bag.'

Book Description
Over the years, I have met many amazing women. While they were mostly my teachers or professors, some were in positions of authority. I admired their selfless concern for the community and their ability to make sane decisions. They modeled for me what I hoped for myself: to live my life motivated by love and dedicated to serving others. They were different ages, but they shared a common trait: joyful charity. Yes, they clarified issues, but more importantly, they had a vibrant spirituality rooted in love of God. They cared about me so consistently that when they shared advice, I knew that it came from a place of deep wisdom. Knowing them made me a better woman and inspired me in the various roles to which obedience called me: teacher, administrator, campus minister, and professor.

Book Description
The Paper Bag Principle: Class, Colorism, and Rumor in the Case of Black Washington, D.C. considers the function of oral history in shaping community dynamics among African American residents of the nation's capitol. The only attempt to document rumor and legends relating to complexion in black communities, The Paper Bag Principle looks at the divide that has existed between the black elite and the black "folk." The Paper Bag Principle focuses on three objectives: to record lore related to the "paper bag principle" (the set of attitudes that granted blacks with light skin higher status in black communities); to investigate the impact that this "principle" has had on the development of black community consciousness; and to link this material to power that results from proximity to whiteness. The Paper Bag Principle is sure to appeal to scholars and historians interested in African American studies, cultural studies, oral history, folklore, and ethnic and urban studies.

Book Description
You find out who did it on the very first page. On the last page, you'll find out why in this expertly plotted, “enthralling” (J. P. Delaney) psychological suspense novel from an internationally bestselling author. Late one night a man walks into the luxurious home of disgraced banker Harry McNamara and his wife Julie. And when the man launches an unspeakably brutal attack on Harry, a horror-struck Julie, frozen by fear, watches her husband die. Just one hour later, the attacker, J. P. Carney hands himself into the police and confesses to beating Harry to death. Except he also claims that the assault was not premeditated and that he didn’t know the identity of his victim. With a man as notorious as Harry McNamara, who was just found innocent in a highly sensationalized fraud trial, the detectives cannot help but wonder: Was this really a random act of violence? Was Julie really powerless to stop JP? When Harry’s many sins are unveiled to include corruption, greed, and betrayal, nothing is for sure. This gripping psychological thriller will have you questioning, who—of Harry, Julie and JP—is really the guilty one? And is Carney's surrender driven by a guilty conscience or is his confession a calculated move in a deadly game? Brilliant and ice-pick sharp, The Confession is perfect for fans of B. A. Paris and Fiona Barton.

Book Description
The Sense of Brown is José Esteban Muñoz's treatise on brownness and being as well as his most direct address to queer Latinx studies. In this book, which he was completing at the time of his death, Muñoz examines the work of playwrights Ricardo Bracho and Nilo Cruz, artists Nao Bustamante, Isaac Julien, and Tania Bruguera, and singer José Feliciano, among others, arguing for a sense of brownness that is not fixed within the racial and national contours of Latinidad. This sense of brown is not about the individualized brown subject; rather, it demonstrates that for brown peoples, being exists within what Muñoz calls the brown commons—a lifeworld, queer ecology, and form of collectivity. In analyzing minoritarian affect, ethnicity as a structure of feeling, and brown feelings as they emerge in, through, and beside art and performance, Muñoz illustrates how the sense of brown serves as the basis for other ways of knowing and being in the world.

This little seed is how our story begins: The story of Barky. Read about Birdy the Backyard Blue Jay's next adventure. Colton, Teen Secret Agent: Find the Parents, is the next chapter in the story of high school student turned secret agent, in search of his parents in such locations as Segovia, Madrid, Rome and more. Teen Speak, A Teacher's Story, The bell rings and classes start for four hundred students in the Church of the Cross Parish religious education on Wednesday evening. The student's stories are many. Life is not all a bed of roses for the parish youth, especially when the Sourpuss patrol is on the prowl.
