Book Description
Excerpt from The Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, Vol. 20: With Which Is Incorporated "Climate" And Embodying Selections From the Colonial Medical Reports; A Bi-Monthly Journal Devoted to Medical, Surgical and Sanitary Work in the Tropics; January 1 to December 15, 1917 In a typical specimen the nucleus was situated a little anterior to the middle of the body, and the kinetonucleus at the anterior end. There was usually a distinct cytostome at the anterior end close to the kinetonucleus and the roots of the flagella. The trophonucleus was large, rounded, or oval, bounded by a well marked nucl-ea-r membrane, and furnished with a karyosom-e. Besides being situated in the anterior half of the body the tropho nucleus was often eccentric, being placed nearer to the margin along which the trailing flagellum ran (flagellar margin). In this respect it differed from that of P. Urinaria, which, according to Sinto-n is generally nearer the aflagellar margin.
