Book Description
Building on his work in Traditional Oral Epic and Immanent Art, the author aims to dissolve the perceived barrier between oral and written, creating a theory from oral-formulaic theory and the ethnography of speaking and ethnopoetics. He argues that a work's word-power derives from its performance and its implied traditional context.

Book Description
This book is a sequel (or better: a prequel) to Immanuel Velikovsky's main work, the best-selling Worlds in Collision, in which he gave a detailed reconstruction of two global natural catastrophes based on information handed down by our ancestors. He mentioned there that, as part of his intensive research, he found numerous indications of even more catastrophes that took place earlier in the history of mankind. In the present book, the material collected by Velikovksy about this topic is presented to the public for the first time. His findings show just how turbulent the history of Earth and our planetary system was during the time of mankind and how little we actually know of all that today.

Book Description
Traditional African musical forms have long been accepted as fundamental to the emergence of blues and jazz. Yet there has been little effort at compiling recorded evidence to document their development. This discography brings together hundreds of recordings that trace in detail the evolution of the African American musical experience, from early wax cylinder recordings made in West Africa to voodoo rituals from the Carribean Basin to the songs of former slaves in the American South.

Book Description
Decades before the Salem Witch trials, 11 people were hanged as witches in the Connecticut River Valley. The advent of witch hunting in New England was directly influenced by the English Civil War and the witch trials in England led by Matthew Hopkins, who pioneered "techniques" for examining witches. This history examines the outbreak of witch hysteria in the Valley, focusing on accusations of demonic possession, apotropaic magic and the role of the clergy. Although the hysteria was eventually quelled by a progressive magistrate unwilling to try witches, accounts of the trials later influenced contemporary writers during the Salem witch hunts. The source of the document "Grounds for Examination of a Witch" is identified.
