A Hit With A Bullet
Author: Sammy Sadler
Publisher: Simon and Schuster
ISBN: 195090606X
Category : Biography & Autobiography
Languages : en
Pages : 285
Book Description
The True Story of Murder on Music Row through the eyes of the sole survivor, Sammy Sadler. “A story of survival. A story of revival. A story that had to be told. An incredible read that will keep you on the edge of your seat!” - Country Music Star Deborah Allen In 1989, country newcomer Sammy Sadler had already charted several critically-acclaimed singles and was ready to release his first album when he was shot during the assassination of then Cash Box chart-manager, Kevin Hughes, an incident known around the world as the “Murder on Music Row.” The police had no suspects, and even though Sammy suffered a nearly fatal bullet wound, the officers kept him under suspicion during the 13-year investigation. Eventually, the investigation would reveal an elaborate web of corruption, chart-rigging and payola, a clear motive and suspect for the murder. An ending that rocked the music industry for many years to come. In this first-hand account, Sadler recounts his personal and sensational journey from wide-eyed, promising, Top-40 newcomer to “person of interest” and survivor of one of the most infamous killings in the music business. From his struggle to recover from his nearly-fatal injuries to the turmoil endured during the 13-year career-throttling investigation, this autobiographical account is a demonstration of his faith and his resilient passion for music that would allow him to move forward and continue to pursue his dreams. As featured on CMN, FOX 17 WZTV Nashville, FIRST COAST ABC News, Nashville.com, This Week America, WSM 650AM and Good Morning Texas.

Women's Fiction 1945-2005
Author: Deborah Philips
Publisher: Bloomsbury Publishing
ISBN: 1441149511
Category : Literary Criticism
Languages : en
Pages : 169
Book Description
Organised around each decade of the post war period, this book analyses novels written by and for women from 1945 to the present. Each chapter identifies a specific genre in popular fiction for women which marked that period and provides case studies focusing on writers and texts which enjoyed a wide readership. Despite their popularity, these novels remain largely outside the 'canon' of women's writing, and are often unacknowledged by feminist literary criticism. However, these texts clearly touched a nerve with a largely female readership, and so offer a means of charting the changes in ideals of femininity, and in the tensions and contradictions in gender identities in the post-war period. Their analysis offers new insights into the shifting demands, aspirations and expectations of what a woman could and should be over the last half century. Through her analysis of women's writing and reading, Philips sets out to challenge the distinction between 'popular' and 'literary' fiction, arguing that neat categories such as 'popular', 'middle brow' and 'serious fiction' need more careful definition.

Her Playboy Cowboy Lover
Author: Cat Johnson
Publisher: Cat Johnson
ISBN:
Category : Fiction
Languages : en
Pages : 231
Book Description
Cowboy Ethan Wilder tends to keep leftovers in the fridge longer than he keeps the women he dates around. But Poppy Van Clief, the misplaced city girl who literally crashed into town, seems as immune to his charms as she is wary of his family name, which might be exactly why he's not going to rest until he makes her his for the long run. Hamptons socialite Poppy Van Clief sees the small town of Bitter End as her big chance for a fresh start, in spite of the town’s ominously symbolic name and her disastrous arrival there. Away from her family’s wealth and reputation, it’s her chance to be more than what people assume about her—that she's skating through life on her daddy's money and her good looks. She's determined to succeed on her own merits, and make the Wilder Inn a huge success at the same time. There’s one thing standing in her way. Ethan Wilder. Why a cowboy player in charge of the family livestock wants to be involved in the business end of the Wilder enterprise is beyond her, but he does. And his annoying, sexy, ever-present self, and the way her traitorous body reacts to him, is starting to become a problem she needs to solve. So is the event company who appears at the hotel with big ideas and a huge threat to her career there.

Love Is a Cause
Author: Anna Prinzi
Publisher: Xlibris Corporation
ISBN: 150350848X
Category : Fiction
Languages : en
Pages : 97
Book Description
I wrote these short stories from when I turned 25, back in 1994 to when I was 35.They are a painstaking compilation of imaginary journeys hat record the brief and erotic edge on which I presumed to live. During those years I may have lived actively for a universal cause (as in motive and provocation), namely that of a crucial and abstract phenomenon which our species predominantly refers to as Love, which once again, for me remained confounding and a little hard core, in an elemental sense. I did not ever own a camera so I recorded sensual data through descriptive writing, hopefully capturing those intense and illuminating moments of bliss and abandon, in a literary form. Like photographs, I could always access these experiences if I ever had to recall those years. The characters and locations and events are essentially fictitious and are the sole creations of my imagination. Whatsoever seems traceable to fact is as they say in the movies, purely coincidental. Randomly included are illustrations from an altogether later stage than previously mentioned. These are from my Pop Art series which I painted in 2009 as an art pupil which contain cinematic references. As part of this collection their input remains aesthetic. However you are at liberty to interpret them as you feel. I hope you enjoy the fallacy, myth and desirous energy that illustrates the colourful, vibrant, bold, messy, loud, soft and sticky world of Love is A Cause.(When Virtues are lost to Ludicrous, Erotic & Manic Forms of Being).

Couples
Author: Kate Figes
Publisher: Virago
ISBN: 074811825X
Category : Psychology
Languages : en
Pages : 299
Book Description
These days, many of us enjoy unrivalled freedom and equality when it comes to choosing and building a relationship. Yet new myths about how to live and love compromise that happiness. Kate Figes argues that, whether married or cohabiting, gay or straight, remarried or a couple living apart, the quality of our intimate relationship is fundamental to our long-term health and happiness, because our need for commitment and love hasn't changed. This is not a handbook. There are no easy 'Mars and Venus' universal recipes for success, because relationships are far too complicated, individual and important for easy answers. But learning how others sustain lifelong love, and what really goes on in other people's lives can help us to understand our own partnerships and take responsibility for making them work. Couples is an incisive and important look at how we can learn to make love endure.
