The First 1000 Days in the Nordic Countries: Psychosocial Interventions and Psychological Tests: A Review of the Evidence
Author: Breivik, Kyrre
Publisher: Nordic Council of Ministers
ISBN: 9289370475
Category : Education
Languages : en
Pages : 232
Book Description
Available online: https://pub.norden.org/nord2021-037/ The report provides an overview and short systematic review of the psychosocial interventions and psychological tests used in the Nordic countries during the first 1000 days of a child’s life, i.e. from the prenatal period until two years of age. A total of 63 interventions and 33 tests were reviewed. Findings reveal that, although a large number of interventions and tests are available for the target groups in the Nordic countries, evidence regarding their effectiveness or psychometric properties is often lacking or insufficient. Thus, it is important that research efforts be enhanced in the Nordic region to strengthen the evidence-base of the interventions and instruments that practitioners rely upon in order to assess and support mental wellbeing for Nordic children and families during this critical period in their lives.

Publisher: Nordic Council of Ministers
ISBN: 9289358661
Category : Social Science
Languages : en
Pages : 28
Book Description
Young people, sustainable tourism and ocean affairs are in focus under Iceland’s Presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers in 2019. Nordic emphases on gender equality, digitalisation and sustainable development are incorporated into the Presidency projects, together with the UN Global Goals. The theme of the Presidency refers to the Nordic countries’ friendship, as it is manifest in mobility and strong mutual co-operation. They also share common paths to the rest of the world, where the Nordic countries present themselves jointly and make their contribution to international co-operation for peace, security and environmental protection. The common paths of the future lie through the digital world. There is deep-rooted respect for the principles of democracy and rule of law in the Nordic countries. We are determined to continue to be peaceful and diverse welfare societies, where culture and education flourish, and everyone is entitled to enjoy life’s opportunities. Societies where innovation goes hand-in-hand with the interests of nature, employment and a vital economy. Nordic co-operation has shown that it is better to build bridges than walls. There is nothing old-fashioned about co-operation, friendship and respect. These basic Nordic values are always at the forefront.

Nordic Social Pedagogical Approach to Early Years
Author: Charlotte Ringsmose
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3319425579
Category : Education
Languages : en
Pages : 273
Book Description
This book studies the major characteristics of the social pedagogical approach to early childhood education and care. It does so by investigating the distinctive elements of the Nordic approach and tradition. The cultural, educational, and ideological structures and values within the Nordic tradition indicate a strong “social pedagogical” rather than “early education” emphasis. The Nordic tradition applies a social learning approach that emphasizes play, relationships and outdoor life, and presumes that learning takes place through children’s participation in social interaction and processes. Set against this background, the book examines the characteristics of the pedagogue and the important features that develop through the Nordic approach. It compares children educated in the Nordic tradition with those educated in the French-English and Anglo-American tradition. It explores quality in relation to how children can enjoy childhood, and at the same time become able to actively participate in society and develop the social and cognitive skills and competences that individuals require to do well in society.
