Book Description
This study was carried out to evaluate and compare the shear bond strengths between the orthodontic bracket and acid etched enamel, enamel treated with self-etch primer and laser irradiated enamel and to analyze the interface of the enamel bracket bond.It will help students, teachers and othodontia practitioners as it deals with the most contemporarily used bonding techniques. The results indicate that the shear bond strength of all the three groups was clinically acceptable with no significant difference between them but more adhesive was left on enamel treated with acid and laser as compared to self-etch primer treated enamel.

Book Description
The evolution of orthodontic materials in the past 5 decades has been a unique progress curve characterized by periods of intense activity with many developments followed by long quiescent intervals. An example of the delay in adopting the advances in dentistry might well be illustrated by the acid-etching technique, which was introduced in the mid 1950s1 and became universally accepted in the 1960s. It took more than a decade for this practice to become standard procedure in orthodontics on a large scale. Infact, orthodontic bonding has advanced more in last 10 years than previous 25. In the past decade, we have witnessed unprecedented progress in bonding to enamel with various materials techniques and auxiliaries involving glass ionomer bonding, self-etching primers, and new, powerful light-curing sources, along with self-ligating brackets and a different treatment concept, the Invisalign technique.

Book Description
Many studies have been done on the shear bond strength of brackets adhered to acid-etched enamel and so far, there is no study on shear bond strength of brackets adhere to laser-etched enamel in Iraq. So, this study is an attempt to compare the shear bond strength of brackets adhered to laser-etched enamel with that of brackets adhered to acid-etched enamel. The application of laser irradiation to etch dental enamel for direct bonding of orthodontic appliance has been studied. CO2 (Carbon Dioxide) laser are capable of producing surface irregularities in human enamel which resemble those resulting from etching of enamel with ortho-phosphoric acid. Whether laser conditioning improves the retention of composite resins to the same degree as conventional acid-etching techniques has been the subject of several investigations.

Book Description
Debonding and Fixed Retention in Orthodontics An accessible and thorough guide to debonding and fixed retainer bonding Debonding and Fixed Retention in Orthodontics: An Evidence-Based Clinical Guide reviews the protocols, materials, and techniques required at two key stages of orthodontic treatment. The book has been written as a reference guide and the chapters introduce the best-supported and most efficient approaches to each stage of debonding and fixed retainer bonding treatments, from choice of material through to final results. The book includes relevant procedures including orthodontic appliance removal, appliance debonding, the use of rotating instruments, and enamel cleaning. The authors also provide guidance on topics such as the failure and adverse effects of fixed retainers, enamel structural defects, periodontal effects, and aerosol production, to aid in positive result retention. Readers will also find: Two extensive sections covering debonding and fixed retainer bonding Evidence-based guidelines for each stage of treatment Summaries of the side effects of procedures on hard and soft dental tissues Tips to avoid potential unfavorable sequelae Detailed lists of existing methods and their clinical implications Debonding and Fixed Retention in Orthodontics is written for orthodontic specialists, clinicians, and postgraduate dental students looking to build knowledge and ensure the best results during these two stages of orthodontic therapy.

Book Description
Direct bonding of orthodontic attachment has removed some of the esthetic concerns many adults previously had when considering orthodontic therapy. With an increase in adult treatment comes the challenge of direct bonding to non-enamel surface, such as composite restoration. The big problem that faces orthodontist is debonding of the brackets specially in cases when it fixed on restoration like composite. Therefore a roughened surface will need in order to bond the adhesive composite material to the substrate composite restoration, this roughness will lead to distraction, weaken and loss of integrity of the composite restoration. This study was designed to evaluate the bonding strength of three different generations of adhesive bonding and which one is better to use for bonding the orthodontic bracket to composite restoration, without doing any roughness on composite restoration surface and compare between them which one have better bonding strength with composite restoration.
