Book Description
Natalia Goncharova (1881-1962) was the leading female artist of the Russian avant-garde and a key figure of the modernist era. She embraced with a complete openness a wide range of artistic styles, traditions and media. From sculpture and painting, printmaking and book illustration, to fashion and innovative cinema, she applied the spirit of "everythingness" (Toutisme) to her creative practice. After gaining fame for her early experiments with abstraction, she earned further international renown for her work for Diaghilev's Ballets Russes following her emigration to Paris in 1914.0This publication will consider the entire spectrum of Goncharova's creative practice. An important focus will be her 1913 exhibition in Moscow at which she displayed over 350 paintings along with the numerous drawings, studies, prints and designs, demonstrating her prolific and prodigious talent. It will also address how Goncharova was unafraid to explore subjects in her art that were considered taboo for a gentile woman of pre-war Europe, such as the female nude, paganism and marginalised cultures. 00Exhibition: Tate Modern, London, UK (06.06.-08.09.2019).

Book Description
Now in paperback, this major biography of J.E.B. Stuart—the first in two decades—uses newly available documents to draw the fullest, most accurate portrait of the legendary Confederate cavalry commander ever published. • Major figure of American history: James Ewell Brown Stuart was the South’s most successful and most colorful cavalry commander during the Civil War. Like many who die young (Stuart was thirty-one when he succumbed to combat wounds), he has been romanticized and popular- ized. One of the best-known figures of the Civil War, J.E.B. Stuart is almost as important a figure in the Confederate pantheon as Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson. • Most comprehensive biography to date: Cavalryman of the Lost Cause is based on manuscripts and unpublished letters as well as the latest Civil War scholarship. Stuart’s childhood and family are scrutinized, as is his service in Kansas and on the frontier before the Civil War. The research in this biography makes it the authoritative work.

Book Description
The Egypt of the 660s BC was a politically fragmented and conquered country. However, its situation was about to change. This is an account of how a family of local rulers from the town of Sais declared independence from the Assyrian Empire and brought about reunification. They established central government, reformed the economy and promoted trade. Egypt soon became prosperous, achieving a pre-eminent role in the Mediterranean world. The book reveals the dynamic nature of the period, the astuteness of the Saite rulers and their considerable achievements in the political, economic, administrative and cultural spheres. It will appeal not only to students of Egyptology but also, because of the interactions of the Saite Dynasty with the Aegean and Mesopotamia worlds, to anyone interested in ancient history.
