Book Description
Winner of the 2021 PROSE Award for CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY and PSYCHIATRY Against a global backdrop of problematic adherence to medical treatment, this volume addresses and provides practical solutions to the simple question: "Why don't patients take treatments that could save their lives?" The Wiley handbook of Healthcare Treatment Engagement offers a guide to the theory, research and clinical practice of promoting patient engagement in healthcare treatment at individual, organizational and systems levels. The concept of treatment engagement, as explained within the text, promotes a broader view than the related concept of treatment adherence. Treatment engagement encompasses more readily the lifestyle factors which may impact healthcare outcomes as much as medication-taking, as well as practical, economic and cultural factors which may determine access to treatment. Over a span of 32 chapters, an international panel of expert authors address this far-reaching and fascinating field, describing a broad range of evidence-based approaches which stand to improve clinical services and treatment outcomes, as well as the experience of users of healthcare service and practitioners alike. This comprehensive volume adopts an interdisciplinary approach to offer an understanding of the factors governing our healthcare systems and the motivations and behaviors of patients, clinicians and organizations. Presented in a user-friendly format for quick reference, the text first supports the reader’s understanding by exploring background topics such as the considerable impact of sub-optimal treatment adherence on healthcare outcomes, before describing practical clinical approaches to promote engagement in treatment, including chapters referring to specific patient populations. The text recognizes the support which may be required throughout the depth of each healthcare organization to promote patient engagement, and in the final section of the book, describes approaches to inform the development of healthcare services with which patients will be more likely to seek to engage. This important book: Provides a comprehensive summary of practical approaches developed across a wide range of clinical settings, integrating research findings and clinical literature from a variety of disciplines Introduces and compliments existing approaches to improve communication in healthcare settings and promote patient choice in planning treatment Presents a range of proven clinical solutions that will appeal to those seeking to improve outcomes on a budget Written for health professionals from all disciplines of clinical practice, as well as service planners and policy makers, The Wiley Handbook of Healthcare Treatment Engagement is a comprehensive guide for individual practitioners and organizations alike. 2021 PROSE Biological and Life Sciences Category for Clinical Psychology & Psychiatry

Book Description
Patient engagement should be envisaged as a key priority today to innovate healthcare services delivery and to make it more effective and sustainable. The experience of engagement is a key qualifier of the exchange between the demand (i.e. citizens/patients) and the supply process of healthcare services. To understand and detect the strategic levers that sustain a good quality of patients’ engagement may thus allow not only to improve clinical outcomes, but also to increase patients’ satisfaction and to reduce the organizational costs of the delivery of services. By assuming a relational marketing perspective, the book offers practical insights about the developmental process of patients’ engagement, by suggesting concrete tools for assessing the levels of patients’ engagement and strategies to sustain it. Crucial resources to implement these strategies are also the new technologies that should be (1) implemented according to precise guidelines and (2) designed according to a user-centered design process. Furthermore, the book describes possible fields of patients’ engagement application by describing the best practices and experiences matured in different fields

Book Description
Work-related factors have implications for health and wellbeing. Due to the amount of time spent at the workplace and the impact of work on health over an individual’s life course, the workplace has evolved as an important arena for population health promotion. Risk factors within the physical and psychosocial working environment, as well as inadequate organizational support, are associated with increasing work-related health problems, which result in psychosocial and economic implications for the individual, the family, the organization and the society. Recent estimates revealed an increasing level of sickness absence due to work related factors, among others. In recognition of the importance of worker health and a healthy working life, but also in line with numerous occupational health goals, many organisations set aside significant amounts of financial resources annually to promote work well-being. However, studies have shown that despite this positive disposition among employers, both employee participation and the impact of such programs remain minimal. According to the Ottawa declaration for health promotion and the Luxembourg declaration for Workplace Health Promotion (WHP), WHP should be strategic. It is recommended that WHP be conducted in a systematic and continuous process of needs analysis, priority setting, planning, implementation and evaluation. Unfortunately, available studies show that many companies have policies currently in place but lack knowledge regarding proper implementation and evaluation. The foregoing phenomenon raises questions regarding the level of knowledge of and attitudes towards WHP among people in management positions. This Research Topic aims to address factors affecting workplace health promotion. - What does WHP mean for employers? - What forms of WHP packages exist? - Is there evaluation and follow up of such interventions? - What are the barriers and facilitators relating to the uptake of WHP interventions among employees? - Do people in relevant managerial positions possess adequate knowledge regarding WHP? Manuscripts that explore factors crucial for WHP, including individual and organizational level factors, crucial for WHP are welcomed. Manuscripts on barriers, evidence-based interventions, best practices, analysis of existing policy documents and those with a life course perspective etc. are also welcomed. Manuscripts can be of national, international and global perspectives.

Book Description
This book analyzes the historical development and current state of India's healthcare industry. It describes three sets of institutions that deliver healthcare services, finance these services, and manufacture products used in these services. These institutions provide healthcare (hospitals, physicians, pharmacies, and diagnostic laboratories), pay for healthcare (individuals who pay out-of-pocket, insurance companies, community insurance schemes, government ministries) and produce the technology used in healthcare delivery (pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and medical devices). The volume also discusses innovative efforts to raise capital for the development of these sectors. Finally, it includes three interesting case studies of innovative models of healthcare delivery (L. V. Prasad, Aravind, and Vaatsalya), as well as analyses of other innovative organizations like Narayana Hrudaylaya and the hospital chains. The contributors to the volume include Wharton faculty members, graduates of Wharton's healthcare MBA program, and executives and consultants from India.

Book Description
Nurse Manager Engagement: Strategies for Excellence and Commitment is based on the groundbreaking and highly regarded national "Nurse Engagement Study" project funded by The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. The book builds upon the key ideas in the study by including examples from Dr. Mackoff’s conversations and key teaching points from her work with several hundred nurse managers in the three years following this innovative study. Nurse Manager Engagement offers a groundbreaking approach—one that distinguishes it from other nurse management books by a focus on building a model of the solution rather than a description of the problem. It focuses on the crucial role of the nurse manager in engaging staff nurses and building a pipeline for future nurse leadership.
