Book Description
" The Cross Trap is a re-evaluation of the events surrounding the Crucifixion to show that they were not isolated occurrences but part of a well conceived conspiracy to send the Son of God back to God as a sinner. The scriptures focus on the religious leaders' opposition to Jesus' status as an authoritative teacher; however, the underlying focus of Satan was on Jesus as the perfect sacrificial Lamb for the remission of sin. Even though the religious leaders did not understand or believe Jesus' primary role as the savior, Satan certainly had a good understanding of it. The conflicts Jesus experienced in his ministry are only the finale of the anger that had festered in the spiritual world since his birth. Death for Jesus was not enough. His sanctity as the Lamb of God had to be destroyed, thus making him an unworthy sacrifice. -Why was Jesus' death by crucifixion? -Was Judas given thirty pieces of silver for a kiss? -Why did two thieves die with Jesus? -Why was there vinegar and gall at the cross? -Why did the soldier pierce Jesus with the spear? The Cross Trap will answer these questions and explain why the Crucifixion was a formidable and almost perfect trap. "

Book Description
Campus security found the body of Canfield Adams early on Sunday morning, seven stories below the open window of his office. To the police there is one easy assumption, but anyone who knew Canfield knows he would never have jumped. University officials ask literature Professor and amateur sleuth Kate Fanslar to investigate the death of their precious professor, and she find a myriad of people, both on and off campus, who could have pushed him. However, Kate suspects the university has an ulterior motive . . . . . . and she herself is not sure she wants to succeed, for the murderer may be someone she cares about, a student, a colleague, a friend? Taking its name from a Rudyard Kipling poem and littered with his verses throughout, A Trap for Fools is a novel about overcoming adversity, one of Amanda Cross' latest and best mysteries. 'If by some cruel oversight you haven't discovered Amanda Cross, you have an uncommon pleasure in store for you' New York Times Book Review

Book Description
The development of scalable microfabricated ion traps with multiple segments for the realization of quantum computing is a challenging task in quantum information science. The research on the design, development, fabrication, and operation of the first European micro-trap is shown in this thesis. This chip-based micro-trap is an outstanding candidate towards experiments for a future quantum processor with trapped single ions. In the experiments coherent quantum state manipulation is demonstrated, and sideband cooling to the motional ground state is realized. The heating rate is determined and the applicability for quantum computation is proven. Furthermore planar trap designs are investigated - a planar microparticle trap was built and operated. A linear microfabricated planar trap was operated, showing the proof of concept of a novel designed and fabricated Y-shaped planar trap.

Book Description
Ecological Methods by the late T.R. E. Southwood and revised over the years by P. A. Henderson has developed into a classic reference work for the field biologist. It provides a handbook of ecological methods and analytical techniques pertinent to the study of animals, with an emphasis on non-microscopic animals in both terrestrial and aquatic environments. It remains unique in the breadth of the methods presented and in the depth of the literature cited, stretching right back to the earliest days of ecological research. The universal availability of R as an open source package has radically changed the way ecologists analyse their data. In response, Southwood's classic text has been thoroughly revised to be more relevant and useful to a new generation of ecologists, making the vast resource of R packages more readily available to the wider ecological community. By focusing on the use of R for data analysis, supported by worked examples, the book is now more accessible than previous editions to students requiring support and ideas for their projects. Southwood's Ecological Methods provides a crucial resource for both graduate students and research scientists in applied ecology, wildlife ecology, fisheries, agriculture, conservation biology, and habitat ecology. It will also be useful to the many professional ecologists, wildlife biologists, conservation biologists and practitioners requiring an authoritative overview of ecological methodology.

Book Description
Booby traps laid by troops in war zones in World War II are largely neglected in histories and memoirs, and rarely examined in detail. Yet for a soldier, the threat of booby traps had to be at the forefront of his mind, and an ability to find and disarm them was essential. This is the first comprehensive study of World War II's battlefield booby traps, using information from rare wartime intelligence publications to identify, illustrate and describe the tactics of both Allied and Axis saboteurs. Examining all aspects of this secretive subject, from the equipment used to the techniques of placing and finding them, this book uncovers the daily risks faced by soldiers on the ground through the course of the war.
