Book Description
Discover how the cross delivers everything the world needs most. Freedom, forgiveness, justice, and purpose. We long for them in our lives and in the world. The cross delivers them! Yet sometimes we are so familiar with the cross that it loses its impact on us. We forget that Jesus’ death on the cross and his resurrection are the most important events in human history and our lives. The cross is the fulfillment of God’s salvation plan, promised from the dawn of time. It is central to the Bible, central to our faith, and central to the meaning and purpose of our lives. This foundational book looks at passages from both the Old and New Testaments to sum up the victory of the cross in four words: freedom, forgiveness, justice, and purpose, and what that means for us personally. Marvel at the cross afresh and be moved to love and serve the Lord Jesus with renewed zeal and joy. This short yet profound book is a very useful discipleship tool. It can be read individually, in pairs, or in small groups.

Book Description
While many of us naturally wish to avoid the reality of the cross, it’s from the cross that Jesus speaks and shows his deepest love for us. It’s from the cross that Jesus' full humanity draws us closest to him. It’s from the cross, as Jesus breathes his last breath and speaks his last words, that his deep trust in the Father and his divine glory are revealed. Those who listen to Jesus' last words from the cross will discover what he most wants them (the world) to hear and will experience an intimate and divine awe only available to those who are willing to draw near his cross. In Seven Words, Susan Robb looks at the seven last words of Christ on the cross through a lens that finds life and hope in his final sayings, while exploring each from a biblical and historical perspective. The book brings a hopeful and contemplative take on the cross during the weeks of Lent. Additional components for a six-week study include a DVD featuring Susan Robb and a comprehensive Leader Guide.

Book Description
If you enjoy a detective story or you enjoy learning about American history in a creative, fun, art-filled kind of way, look into this book. I will show you two pieces of art that I was able to make from words and signatures in the order they were written in history. The Declaration of Independence was my first piece of art form that took some time to create, but nothing like the piece of art from the Gettysburg Address. In this book, I use art to show how President Lincoln saved the United States of America from a civil war that was splitting our nation. I also was able to find some of the hidden clues left inside these documents that are not hidden at all. You just have to put the clues together. The four additional pieces of art from the Gettysburg Address project show my talents by making something for the soldiers: The Gettysburg Bell, The Soldiers Cross, Five 1 Cents Given Five 1 Cents Found, and President Lincolns Scottish Four-Leaf Clover show my love for all people. The President Kennedy Did Ask piece of art I created is my response to his speech Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country. This book is what I did for my country. Just as blind people use Braille to read things, my pieces of art may speak to those who cannot read or understand the written word. Maybe the art open their minds in other positive ways. Everyone learns in different ways. Some of us who have all of our senses have never learned how to connect with some aspects of life. My art is an attempt to find a way to share history with all people.

Book Description
The cross is regarded as Jesus Christ’s great work of salvation. But is it also a work of creation? Excitingly plumbing Scripture and Christian tradition, Andrew McGowan shows that it is. “Each of Jesus’s seven words from the cross can be understood as a creative act, as a new divine work,” he writes. From the cross, Jesus works forgiveness, bestows Paradise, enacts human relationship, identifies completely with humanity, fulfills Scripture, and reenacts Sabbath. From early days, Christians—for good reason—linked the original seven days of creation with creation and re-creation at the apex of salvation. Seven Last Words recovers this linkage in all its power and perennial freshness. But that is not all. In addition to surveying the seven last words Jesus spoke, McGowan insists that at the cross “the eternal Word not only speaks, but listens.” And so he turns to the “conversations” spoken not only from but to the cross. Here he opens new vistas on the words of Judas, Dismas (the criminal crucified beside Jesus), Mary, God the Father, Longinus (the centurion), and Nicodemus, and ruminates fascinatingly on the accompanying silence of the angels. Profound and endlessly edifying, Seven Last Words will richly repay reading and rereading.

Book Description
Hese Meditations on the Seven Last Words of Christ, accompanied by reflection questions and prayer, will deepen Holy Week's meaning for individuals and congregations. Each of Jesus' last words casts light on his saving work and confronts us with our need to receive and act upon the gift offered by his death. Charcoal illustrations by Jan L. Richardson enhance each day's meditation. The meditations were born out of Peter Storey's almost four decades of ministry in South Africa. During that time, the church had to learn a Cross-shaped ministry under the shadow of apartheid. Book jacket.

Book Description
Praying "The Seven Last Words" is a deeply rooted devotional practice for Catholics during Lent and Holy Week. Meditating on the dying words of Our Lord during the agony of his crucifixion has enabled believers to both enter into his suffering and to find personal meaning in it, regardless of the time or circumstances in which they live. This book presents thoughtful meditations on each of Christ's sayings from the cross, followed by questions for further reflection and a simple heartfelt prayer. Father Billy, an experienced spiritual director, shows how Jesus' final testament can give you the courage to face your trials, to embrace the inevitability of your own death, and to be filled with the hope and promise of plentiful redemption. He teaches that being fully human, both in life and in death, requires a personal encounter with Jesus that invites him to dwell in your heart. View sample pages. "Paperback"
